I'm having a devil of a time losing the last few pounds of my goal. I get hungry! It's a bit demotivating. I feel like I'm working hard to stay in one place.

I'm hoping a couple of weeks on maintenance will allow me to try in earnest once again.

Have you thought about throwing some confusion into your diet? Our bodies are creatures of habit too. They get into rhythms. Break the standard cycle and see what happens.

For the next two weeks intermittent fast. Also include three 24 hour fasts over those same two weeks (so you eat supper and then don't eat again until supper the next day). For instance, have a 24 hour fast on Tuesday, Saturday and Wednesday.

A lot of peeps are going to say it is unhealthy, which is bolder dash. Intermittent fasting is an accepted practice at all levels of sport. Working out fasted shows incredible results to smash fat reserves as your body has to pull from somewhere to get energy. Just recover with a solid post workout fuel after.

I love the flow chart! The "problem" (it isn't really a problem) is likely the calorie estimates from mfp with the fitbit app installed, as I have previously discussed in this forum.

Has anyone enjoyed success in losing those last five, stubborn pounds? Care to share?

Yes, though admittedly I'm now losing them again after being rid of them for over a year.

When you're close to goal, your body's TDEE is lower. Meaning its harder to have a deficit because your body uses less energy. Accuracy becomes very important.

Here's a thought. If you're struggling so hard to lose those last 5 how difficult will it be to keep them off? In my experience you have to work pretty hard to maintain any weight that it took you a lot of difficulty to achieve. Is it really 5 more pounds you want to lose? Even at 5'3" 5 pounds isn't that noticeable on me; on anyone taller it will be even less pronounced. Perhaps what you really want is to firm up some areas that you feel are still too "jiggly"?

I'd suggest looking into body recomposition instead of fighting that last 5 pound battle. Work on lowering your body fat percentage rather than the number on the scale. That light bulb went off for me when I realized how much I had to restrict my eating to maintain 122-125 pounds a few years ago. It really wasn't worth the effort. So I started eating at maintenance and hit the gym 2-3 days per week to lift heavy. I continued to run every other day because I enjoy it but because it also gives me a few extra calories to play with. My weight now sits in the mid-130s and I'm wearing the same clothes I was wearing when struggling to maintain 122 pounds. I can also eat more and maintain this weight.

Yup. I'm 5'3.5" and 108 pounds. I maintain on around 1900 to 2300 calories per day. It took patience, being active, and weighing all my food. That's it. If people are honest and have realistic expectations those "stubborn" pounds will come off in time.
