You should be able to change the unit of measure on your scale from ounces to grams. Both are a unit of weight but grams are easier. Put plate or container on scale and tare it (zero) then add the amount of food you want.

I have pulled back muscles a number of times over the years. The worst thing you can do is sit still and for me riding a stationary bike (slow&easy) always helped with recovery.

As Sam said pull-ups are great for the back. Also a wider grip will hit the back better. If you have some weights you could do some rows and shrugs.

I workout alone at home so I leave the clips off. Ive only had to dump once but have had many close calls. What is the roll of shame? Is that where you wiggle out from under the bar. That seems more dangerous to me.
