GL can be influenced by adding proteins and fats, and how you cook can change it too (for example, roasted sweet potato is higher GL than boiled). My dietician recommended low GL for me and it took me out of the prediabetic range. I found Patrick Holford's website and books invaluable.

Ah thanks for explaining, it's been eons since I watched that film.

I googled the name but I'm none the wiser, sorry!

Ask for a wife beater round here and you'll get a can of Stella!

I thought we just agreed that scales don't make people obsessive?
-
Yes I know that, which is why I can't see the logic of the OMGOCD!!! posts.
-
Do people really believe that using scales will give someone OCD? I'm trying to follow the logic of using a mental health condition as an insult, is it coming from a fear that you might "catch" it? If someone has been diagnosed with OCD they don't need Internet people to tell them they've got it, and not all of their…

Tell your boss that he/she's paying you to do nothing. I'm sure they'll find something for you to do.

@randylegrant Have you tried using the Withings Pulse app on MFP to sync? I used to use the Pulse, and when I switched to Withings Go I found there wasn't an app for syncing it to MFP, but I can sync the Go through the Pulse app.

When we were Romans! And yes it is, which is why non-metric countries have that military budget! https://youtu.be/9foi342LXQE :decaff coffee so not feeling the benefit:

You can't decimate things without decimals, get with the programme/program!
-
Here, have a map that shows the countries that don't use grams (in red).

I'd use the most convenient scale, consistently.

You said best, not cheapest ;-)

I haven't found anything (yet!) that my Vitamix can't pulverise.

Thank you OP! I've read so much about perimeter shopping on MFP that I thought that all USA shops had the same layout (and, to be honest, was quite envious because you'd always know where everything is!) I use 4 different stores, but for my everyday type shopping I go to Asda. Shopping the perimeter would get me: Prepared…

But you're not. You may be meeting/exceeding a calculator's deficit, but you're not meeting/exceeding your body's deficit.

It makes you more than keen at games and sports :-) https://youtu.be/qMyY1hTqTzc

I don't understand the standard serving thing, as that's not how I eat. Our packaging shows per 100g, so that makes it easier to calculate how much I can fit in my day. If I've reached my other nutritional goals and I'm still in a deficit, something that's not nutritionally-dense isn't going to do any harm to my weight…

Why would it have to be 500+ calories worth?

Fat shamed at the grocery store Branded a fool What will they say Monday at school? Cashier, can't you see I'm in misery? You blamed my carbs, and broke my heart There's nothing left for me Pizza and cake, I’ll now partake I sit and wonder why-y-y, oh? Why you insulted me, oh Cashier

Yep, for weight loss it doesn't matter - I was just musing about an ounce of prevention being better than a pound of cure. I didn't lower my carbs...there's just something about adding protein and fats to them that slows down the glucose release. This is probably off topic for purely weight-loss reasons though, and more…

First of all, well done on your weight loss! It seems to me that you are on top of your calories in part of the equation with regards to weighing and logging, so I suspect it's the calories out part that's leading you to weight gain. I've often seen it said that only a portion of the exercise calories should be eaten, are…
-
Just to pick up on this bit: I'm not at all science-y (I know science works, but have no clue/interest why!), but this style of eating is exactly what my dietician recommended to lower my blood glucose. It worked, and took me out of the pre-diabetic range. I'd agree that it doesn't matter for weight loss, but the…

I'm not sure what wlr is, but isn't that the one that said 177.4lb = 12st 9.4? That's the correct one. Your conversion to 12st 6.7 is the incorrect one.
-
12 x 14 = 168 + 9 = 177 + 0.4 = 177.4 Your first conversion is incorrect.
-
@AMVilla I hope you're feeling better today. When I think of some of the (admittedly, non-diet related) things I've believed it almost makes my hair straight ;-) Chin up, you're on the right path now x

Don't discuss your weight with her. If she wants to discuss it just nod, smile and carry on with what you're doing.

YouTube has lots of workouts. I've seen Leslie Sansone recommended a lot here, and you can find bodyweight exercises too.

When I use the word "toned", I mean that I don't want any muscle definition but I don't want any wobbly bits either.
