I find protein powder to be quite heavy on calories, compared to other protein things that I enjoy more. I've got quite a low calorie allowance and, unless I'm having a meat-free meal, I can get all the protein I need from real food and keep within my allowance.

Just think of it as an MFP foible. MFP has many, many foibles.

It's actually printed on my microwave (and in the instructions) to put a metal spoon in cups of liquid in the microwave. I thought it was an error when I first saw it, but apparently it's standard now for modern microwaves.

There's wayyyy too much food I do like to worry about food I don't like. You don't need to eat chocolate, or protein shakes.

I don't understand it either, but I guess it's what they're used to so they manage it. Personally, I not only look at the nutrition per 100g but I also look at the shelf-sticker for the price per 100g, so that I can compare like-with-like. Mind you, when I lived in the US I never understood why the sticker price wasn't the…

It's not hopeless. If you think the same way, you're likely to act the same way. Maybe you're not ready to think differently yet - there's nothing wrong with that but you might find it useful to acknowledge it to yourself. It may come in time, and it may take more effort than you are willing or able to give at the moment,…

The point about the sanitisers was that people with addictions don't care how they get their addiction met. So sanitisers containing alcohol are just as good as fine red wines to them. If your addiction is the same, fruit will meet your addiction.

I think it can be useful to avoid temptations if possible in the short-term, but it's not always going to be possible so you may find it beneficial in the long-term to look at what your emotions are around sweets. For example, if you believe you are addicted to sugar can you get the same 'rush' or whatever from fruit? Is…

My ex-MiL used to keep her handbag (purse) in her oven. Her theory was that a burglar wasn't likely to turn up to cook so wouldn't find it.

Yes the uploading to different sites is great. I've also set it (through IFTTT) to turn all my lights off when I stand on it, just to add a bit of drama!

I don't use my scales that way. I do change my actions if it says it's going to rain though.

"Well officer, I was going to call you but I thought I'd ask on a fitness site first"

Fructose is fruit sugar, so I'm not sure how it can't be the same as sugar in fruit.

Link Polar to Google Fit and link Google Fit to myfitnesspal.

I shop at Asda most days, and there is literally no food in there that I cannot eat. Read the helpful stickies at the top of the boards and log accurately. You'll be able to see in your logs whether or not you're meeting your targets, and will be able to adjust. You could even just eat whatever you were eating before you…

I've got a double oven so I use one for plate-warming and dish storage, and one for cooking. The smaller oven is also a grill, but I don't use that.

Some curry houses around here sell two types of curry - lamb or "meat" :-/

This. Or, if you are a compulsory spoon-licker like me, put the jar on the scale and tare/zero it. Remove what you want, and weigh the jar again. The negative number is the amount you've removed (whether it reached your bread or got eaten off the spoon).

heh snap!

Have you set MFP to lose 2lb per week? If so, you will still lose weight on 1400 kcals, just at a more sustainable rate.

I've eaten a doner and wondered what it is! I mean, what animal is shaped like that?! (I'm kidding, I know it's mushed up stuff). US ground beef is UK beef mince.
-
I'd call a roll/sandwich with cheese and salad a cheese salad roll/sandwich. A US gyro is a UK doner kebab.

We have Sprite and 7 Up too, but lemonade doesn't have lime in it. There's also pink lemonade, but I've never had that.

There are lots of exercise videos on YouTube for people with restricted movement.

It doesn't matter, you can't un-eat it. I'd log it and start afresh next meal/next day, and try to hit your weekly calorie target.

It may be that MFP are saying it's incorrect because your link shows 0 calories (I assume because the serving size is only 2.5g). Try re-entering it with the calories per 100g (418kcal) http://www.organicdeliverycompany.co.uk/food-cupboard/superfoods/organic-cacao-powder-227g.html

Many items in the database have incorrect information. Sometimes it's because the person that inputted it got it wrong, and sometimes it's because foods can have different nutritional composition in different parts of the world. Having said that, I've never known MFP to tell me that something was incorrect, what was the…

I have to suppress my inner 13 year old whenever I read "I eat out once a week" for the same reason.

Well he'll get his kicks! It's going to take me 5 mins to get to the River Thames to watch the fireworks, so I'm off until next year!

Cheers! And happy new year! I've got party music on, and I've been playing with my new light bulbs so they're all flashing different colours (I know, I need a life!)
