I don't particularly "want to eat more without having to exercise", I was simply asking what mechanism in the body...this amorphous "metabolism"... creates, IMHO, a contradiction. Why it seems to be at odds with what is best for the body it is supposed to be working to protect. I have to consciously fight my urge to eat…

When I feel myself wanting to go over my calorie goal, I tell myself "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels"

I guess (without taking a biology course) I was wondering what part of "the body" was unilaterally making this decision for me. I can't regulate it, 'cause I don't know "who" (in my body) is making the decision for me that I can subsist on 1500+/- calories per day. If I overfill my car with gas, it just spills out the full…

Blend in a blender or food…

I read somewhere that food isn't the cause of the problem (The hospital visit, your mom's broken hip), so eating food won't solve the problem. That mindset has kept me going a few times when I'd normally say "eff it, I'm having that stupid doughnut because bad XYZ thing happened to me today". So I don't "deserve" more…

How incredibly cool is that!?! You've lost a lot (the weight), and gained a lot (a life partner) all at the same time! I wish you both continued happiness and success!!!

Guess I'll have to try the resistance training. I do walk a lot (love it!!), so maybe I should carry around some dumbbells...? (Real ones...the weights, not my ex-husband, even though he's the biggest dumbbell around...and pretty weighty too, now that I think about it...but I digress). And yes, the girls have remained at…

Thank you! (Actually, I appreciate everyone's input). I just re-adjusted my profile from "Athlete" to "Butter Belly", so I'll see what it says tomorrow when I weigh myself again. Interestingly enough, the scale had been giving me a heart rate of anywhere from 90-100 BPM (and that was just dragging myself from bed to scale…
