I had a NSV moment after a frustrating scale victory yesterday. I had eaten very healthy last week and the scale didn’t move. I had eaten at a restaurant and gotten a meal (and eaten the leftovers) that was high in veggies and lean protein but I figured that the sodium in the sauce would stall my efforts to lose for a few…

I was able to walk 45 minutes with a friend the other day with no back pain. A year ago I had to stop after about 15 minutes.

I have found an analogy that I think will help encourage me not to overeat low fiber carbs. I would not overfill my car gas tank and I certainly would not put diesel fuel in. Thus, in taking care of myself, I can see the harm in overfilling, especially on the wrong type of fuel.

Midwife... I still am catching up with comments from previous years and I think it was you who said that your daughter was very tentative about heading to university. Plus, your talk of the time you spend with your children makes me believe that you homeschool? I can see how the transition might be difficult, especially if…

I like Zumba too. Some people in the class I take report much higher calorie burn in the 55 minutes than I know I burn. I agree that it depends on the instructor's selections of the movements and the amount of effort you are putting into it. If you are not an avid dancer, look for songs or instructors with lots of…

Hi. I started around 250 (hoping to get to between 160 and 170) too & lost about 40lbs before gaining some back. I'm on the right track again now, though. I friended you. I generally get between 12k and 15k steps a day but have been looking to do 20k recently and would like more active friends to motivate me.

When you decide to walk an extra 8,000 steps to make up for the food you weren't supposed to eat.

I get about 10-12k on the days I work. Although I'm not sure it can keep up with my steps when I walk or march quickly, I find that having the fitbit is a great motivator because yes, I will march in place or walk around my work or apartment to reach thresholds that are important to me. It also gave me an estimate of how…

I have to lose about 80lbs more. Have lost about 25lbs so far. What I've learned is that it is okay to have your favorite foods sometimes. However, if you track your intake you can see how many servings blow your goal for a day or what combinations of your favorite foods blow your goal. Also, I will walk around my small…
