Some really good advice ladies. I do have a goal, Jamaica in March at a huge music event. I totally can not cover up. Logging, reading, trying to make sure I keep my mind on the goal. Plus been exercising as best I can, hoping that will help me feel more confident with skimpier clothing. Plus I want to do tons of physical…

One day at a time, but feel good about my choices the last few days. I love the idea of getting back to real life and stop the 'food' vacation. And I did rid my home of it all, gave it to my kids and their kids to eat away....they were super happy!

Welcome Mollie! Congrats on your success. I find reading and logging in MFP helps keep me on track. The people on this site are so wonderful and helpful. Best of luck, you certainly can do it based on your track record. Success will be yours soon!!

I too had the waiting period, good time to reflect, learn and prepare for the lifestyle changes. I did not have exercise as a requirement but that would have been nice, especially if they paid for the gym. : ) Good luck!

Congrats!!! You can do it!

Agreed, congrats! People need to understand that you are not getting out without diet/exercise. This is your kick start to create a new way of living. This is a bad thing, so may not be a good thing for you to share. I had a lap band and never realized that if you got sick (flu/food poison) that you could die, can't throw…

Appreciate all the information, yes they recommend all patients do this forever. Told me of people who are ill because they don't consume this amount of protein many years post surgery. I really hate it and can't imagine doing it long term. I too can get the protein via real food, even though I am a vegetarian. Going to do…

not wrong but I was told it depends on what they find when they start with the removal of the band and how long that procedure is. In my situation I had a lot of scaring and issues that needed to be solved before the bypass. They tell you going in it could be one or two surgeries. My wait was 30 days for the second…

I did have a band, what a mess. I know it was probably my situation, it was not put in correctly. Pieces came off found on my liver.... Moved to by-pass because I could not swallow anything even when the band was empty. Sooooooo much better. I finally am on my road to success. IMO, would never recommend a foreign body in…

me too!!!! Figured it was something to so with my settings Sent in a question about the issue. Hopefully a temporary issue.

Watched some interesting YouTube videos from Dr V (Vuong)....that being said, I would like to err on the side of my nut's advice too. Maybe do what Dr V says but add in the protein drinks to his morning smoothies. Just really want to take advantage of this new lease on life. : )

let me make a little change.....a plant based whole foods diet. Ideas/recommendations?

July is moving fast....been going to the gym but still not always eating perfectly. I think my main issue is if we have wine during dinner (which I know is a no/no). Not only do I get the empty calories from the wine but it seems to influence poor behavior. That being said, I am logging everything down and have been…

Did a Barre class on Sat.....wow can barely get up and down....super sore. Eating ok, not perfect but not horrible. Found out from my doc on Friday that I need to consume 100 protein grams per/day. I was trying for 60...and the lower protein could be contributing to my weight loss stall. So trying to get back into the…

It is HOT in California, anyone have recommendations on making protein ice pops or ice cream? I have some molds coming and hope to just mix them up and freeze but thought I could learn from the pros......

Late to the party but I am going to join....been on a weight loss yoyo for a few months now. I still need to lose at least 40lbs but happy I am even where I am, just hate the slow down. I joined a gym over a week ago and have gone every day. Still not really losing yet but super happy I am on the right path. Going every am…

Advice I really needed today, been stalled for six weeks....I go up a pound our two and then down....I am only five months out and very frustrated with myself. It really is about lack of movement mostly, but that being said, I have been eating out a lot over the last month due to a family medical situation and then the…

I did ask for how long, I am past month three but my NUT stated this would be ongoing. I am going to re-ask at my next appt. IMO if you are getting protein amounts from any source seems fine, but her response was related to part of my inability to absorb these nutrients long term.....but I can see that others are not being…

They are recommending 60 to 80 from supplemental drinks, additional from food is fine. Just seemed high to me because initially I was combining food and supplement/drinks to get this amount. Seems from what I have seen above this is not the norm. I am doing what they say but man this seems like a lot of drinking in between…

Make some good broths for your return, hated my first week until my husband made a amazing tasting broth...... I also drank too fast in the first few days, keep it really, really slow. Took me almost a day before I could drink anything again. I was a mess and it was a little scary.

Yeah, my doctor requires you to take Ursodiol for the first five months. I thought about not taking them but had a friend that went in for emergency surgery due to gallstones, figured I better so what they say.... Although my weight loss has been more slow than most.
-
Congrats!!! Just a question if you don't mind, my doctor requires you to be on medication to ensure you don't get gallstones. Where you on something like this? Just wondering if this is something for newbees to consider.....

I too don't have this experience, but I did have revision from lap-band to RNY. I was told to expect the recovery to be more difficult. I ended up having to have two surgeries one month apart because of the damage the lap-band had done. One to remove/repair, then one month later one for the RNY. Both of these seemed way…

I agree, get a second/third opinion. I even had to change medical plans to get through my surgery. Long story of lap-band gone wrong, Dr's refused to fix, went to another med team and they were wonderful. Check around. But I agree with the comment, this is all about dieting, so regardless of what surgery you get as a tool…

Check out some of the clean eating and vegan sites, trying to stay as close to plant based may help. My only concern (and I am sure you have done this) is a couple members of my surgeon's group went to Mexico only to be ripped off. They mocked up the surgery but never did it. The patients didn't know until they were not…

You may want to seek out a nutrition expert. In my experience doctors are not normally well informed in these areas, just basic understanding. I have never heard of someone who can't do well with plant based diets. Too many scientists back it up....

I am not familiar with any groups, interested too... Been O/L Veg for every, my entire family, son, grandchildren, others are either vegetarian or vegan. By using mock meats we have never had a problem with satisfying a carnivore. So you may not have to wait.... : ) I too am trying to move more into vegan eating, in the…

So I am good on what to cook/eat, been a vegetarian for 30 years....but 60 to 80 grams of protein is still high. As a vegan/vegetarian are you still doing this level of protein? Nice that there are a few of us out there....
