Wait, it was ridiculous claims with no science in the early replies that sucked me into this thread. When did this standard evolve?
-
No such animal exists. Wouldn't it be cool if the science could prove causation of negative health effects in humans without hurting the humans they studied? We might be able to stop these conversations.
-
'Their' did not even remotely say any of that.
-
OP asked about exceeding sugar limits, what are you trying to say?
-
Op was told not to worry about sugar numbers based on y'all's anecdotal experiences. DT tried to turn it into what sugar was going to do to him. I don't care that you all have no issues with sugar, it is about general sugar concerns. I attempted to point this out. OP really doesn't need to hear your personal lack of sugar…

Hmm. I've done my research. Start reading.

That is a fine contention. You test it and report back when you are 80.
-
Nice, I did not equate it, you did. I was thinking about literal garbage.
-
Don't drink your calories. Proteins and fats minimize hunger.
-
You?, I haven't the slightest clue. You could be one of those people who break all the science, eat garbage and your body finds a way to cope without harm. You could be a very rare bird with a special formula that works just for you.

Context matters. Excess or added sugars are unnecessary and can be detrimental to nutritional and metabolic health and weight goals. Do you really want to take a position on the other side of that?
-
Don't correct people for all caps, that's so 2007. (All caps is easier for some disabilities, let it go...)

Unless you want to have a medical condition you should consider worrying about sugar. There are many things you body needs and if you are displacing those things and substituting unneeded sugar calories instead, eventually you will have nutritional or metabolic consequences. Sugar is fun to eat, don' mistake it for…

I have fewer and more 'appropriate' eat signals after going to very low carb diet. I still think food when thirsty or tired, but am working on using that reminder to address those first with water or sleep if applicable.
-
Soon cream will taste perfect and sugared coffee will taste weird! If you get paste the transition, it will become the new normal. I was a die hard drinker of very sugared coffee. Search mfp groups for low carb or ketogenic groups for complete low carb support information.
-
Do your own test, it is the only way to know how something affects you. Some folks think food is just the sum of calories, not the sum of its chemicals and don't believe different effects on different bodies. If you want to rule it out for you, eliminate it and see what happens.
-
Well that is such a relief! It significantly lowers the stress level!
-
Great thread, thank you for the link!
-
Premise quality problem. Micronutrients come from all foods. If all your micronutrient rich foods are all carbohydrates, why are you choosing such low micronutrient (& low quality) proteins and fats?
-
First tell me why I care how much fiber I get?
-
With 2oz of real cream. It's called breakfast!
-
When I feel thinner, its weigh in day!

It never occurred to me that this could be a short term thing until I read people using low carb for weight loss and then planning on getting off. It is hard for me to think that I could continue to control my intake without low carb levels. For me, carbs beget carbs - the 'eat signals' become frequent, non stop and…
-
I've not ever noticed you being anything but thoughtful in you comments, no worries! Disbelief without the mocking judgements is totally cool, keto does run contrary to a half century of nutritional training!
-
I think we are saying the diet CAN BE nutritionally complete with the right food choices, and the ONLY reason it is being said is because others have asserted it CANNOT be nutritionally complete with food choices. that is all! I think of all the mainstream specialty diets, the only one that requires supplementation in all…

I have a crazy theory to explain that.. :#

I'm trying to find nutrients in home made bone broth as non commercial broths are supposed to have calcium, but haven't found anything that seems reliable yet.
-
I may not be typical keto-er or a good target for low calcium evaluation, yesterday I had over 700 cal of cheese and I don't even pay attention to calcium as dairy has always been core in my diet. Your questions prompted me to look at it though!
-
Committed, but not long-term yet. I've been under 50gr (ketogenic levels) for 6 months and low carb for the year before while relearning how to eat without much carb content. Now that I've figured out how to eliminate the overwhelming hunger and post meal coma that higher carb levels induce in me, there is no going back to…

Most days, yes. I have a great love for cheese. Thank you.
