Those would depend on genetics and diet that are present in the non-obese person. Metabolic issues listed also exist in non obese folks at a lower percentage.

I've had personal success with very low carb, high fat for solving weight and health issues. I've witnessed others success with low fat, high carb. This article helps me find the common thread between some radically different strategies towards nutritional success. The toxicity lies in the processing, not the macronutrient…

Very interesting article. No one above addressed the overriding concept of the article - just took potshots. OK. For me, avoiding large quantities of foods that provoke the body's insulin production has made a significant difference in how I feel every day and has helped easily limit calories with steady weight loss as a…

You may find after 2-4 weeks that you no longer crave (or even want) bread. You can find a recipe later, but you may adapt to keto diet or 'way of eating' better by focusing on finding new favorite foods that match your dietary goals rather than substitutes for your 'old' foods. With that said, you can find lots of recipes…

I really love and miss Mac n cheese. The following recipe helped tremendously. My non-keto daughter requests it often AND eats all my leftovers! http://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/2015/01/cauliflower-mac-n-cheese-with-english-cheddar-and-bacon.html Also, finally figured out my Mac n cheese 'thing' was really a thing for…

I read something in the past week about a researcher doing glucose challenge but measuring abnormal insulin response and his testing yielding an even higher number of diabetics than the older standards you are dismissing. Scary stuff on the quantity of folks out there who are unable to eat high levels of carbs without…

Start by identifying your biggest source of sugar and work on replacing it with non sugar options. Give yourself time to adopt your replacement and integrate fully into habits and routines. Don't rush through this but respect your goals and make a little progress towards them daily. Once you've got a solid change of habit…

The article was linked to support the general speculation of genetic adaption to diet, that's all. I'm pretty sure that a species would not ever develop an adaption to something that is negligably present in their existence and non-essential (inuit/carbs). Optimizing for high fat diet would seem to be the shizzle necessary.

None, they do not fit my macros, budget or focus on real food. The taste is franken-foody and fake sugar.

It was addressed to a response that went OT and was degrading low carb as a dietary tool.

For diabetics, their medicine levels must match their carbohydrate intake. Diabetic drugs are not able to handle widely varying levels of carb intake, so they give the patient a carb target level and then they try and match the drug levels. The 'recommended' levels of carbs is just to match the treatment and has no other…

There is a recent study on innuit genes that shows adaptive genes. http://m.sciencemag.org/content/349/6254/1343.short It sounds like the sciencers are unclear on the meaning, but definite differences.

Just wanted to add that you may not know any extreme low carb eaters, there are folks that eat that way. Even meats, eggs and cheese have trace carbs so even though the WOE is called carnivore or zerocarb, they still get trace carbs. It is important to undéstand that there are healthy slim people whose diet is meat &…

I'm also <50 and just worked in Honey crisp by having only about 60gr of it and giving the rest to my daughter! It's only the first few bites that are super delicious, so micro portions work for me.

They are telling people to eat MARGARINE!

Eating at night is fine, so I'm guessing you are going over calories with your choices or are feeling out of control? If so, can you just go to bed earlier? My decision making on food gets really bad when tired, REALLY bad, so aiming for earlier bed time solves it!

I would imagine very few of us are Okinawan and eat an authentic Okinawan diet, their stats might be of limited use here in the USA with our very different diet and genetics.

Carbohydrates supply glucose, proteins supply amino acids and fats supply fatty acids. Your body can make its own glucose as required, but must get amino acids and fatty acids from your diet. If you are picking the least important fuel to cut calories, restrict the carbohydrates.

Studies have shown that people spontaneously eat fewer calories on low carb diet.
