I have hallux limitis. If you just recently got the orthotics, it may be a good idea to lay off the lunges for the time being. Within a few months of getting my orthotics, my toe pain had gone away. Why not try giving your foot time to heal from whatever trauma it has experienced before you got the orthotics and check in…

Could it be water weight from your muscles being repaired from the workouts? Had you been exercising as regularly and vigorously before two weeks ago?
-
You've lost at least four inches! That is excellent! Do you have any fitness or exercise goals that are not focused on weight loss/appearance, because having a second thing to focus on might help you not feel so discouraged along the way.

When I did my ab exercises this morning, I could isolate my abs and do the exercises using only my core muscles. I hadn't realized before that I wasn't really doing this, but now that I am stronger I can really feel the difference and control those muscles voluntarily.

Forgive me, but the worst that could happen is that you injure yourself . . . not that you will have to bail. Please be careful.

I had the same experience with C25K. It helps to have a defined program you can check off each day. With a finish line in sight!

I hurt my foot and have been hula hooping to substitute for my running/walking. If you really go at it, you can stay at cardio level workout for much of the session. I did it for 30 minutes today, with my heart rate in fitness range for 27:30. My HRM gave me 187 calories for it, minus 25 for what I would have burned anyway…

There's no need to eat more unless/until op is physically hungry, though.
-
And of course you aren't defeated. Everyone has off days. The trick is to avoid all or nothing thinking. Just because you slipped a little doesn't mean all is lost.
-
Just follow your normal plan for the day. And continue as usual tomorrow. It doesn't sound like a healthy mindset to overeat then work out hard to make up for it. Aim for steady progress and consistency rather than cycles.

Maybe there was a miscommunication. If soft fat is less dense, I suppose losing one pound might look like more than 1 pound of denser or firmer fat. OP meant "skin" not soft. I don't think skin recovery has anything to do with the fat that was underneath.

Any big shift in weight can be hard to get used to. Our bodies can change faster than our mental image of ourselves.

Yes, RI30 looks tough! I watched some yesterday. Well see if I can do it alongside 30DS. Level 1 has some similarities.

Last month, I did the Blogilates Beginner Calendar, which has a lot of ab work. This month, I am doing their ab challenge (but doing three sets of each exercise so it is hard enough for me). I am hula hooping 30 minutes every other day, and until I am run again I am doing it every day. And I just decided to add the my…

Try just getting started. Make yourself do it for a week or two. I started doing C25K in the mornings and was shocked when I started walking up before my alarm for the first time in my life (I was a snooze button addict). If you are lucky, you will find the increased activity helps change your sleep needs.

Just a few decades ago, far fewer Americans were obese, so it clearly isn't chiefly genetics. However, habits (good and bad) travel through communities like epidemics. If your family and friends gain weight (or start smoking, or commit to exercising), your chances of gaining weight (smoking, exercising) go way up. We tend…

Why not? I couldn't as a kid and had to look up how as an adult. Now I can do it.

Don't mess around with your joints. See a podiatrist.

The steam room is a very inappropriate place for anyone to make the fact that they "fancy" someone clear. That's already crossing a boundary for most people.
-
If he's behaving inappropriately, you should report him to management, regardless of any symptoms you may think that you perceive. Treat him as you would treat anyone else who is being creepy.

Fitbit will count steps you take dancing unless you've made your movements so smooth that you don't bounce at all. Zumba is bouncy, so you'll get steps. You may get a more accurate calorie count by logging it separately though.
-
I have a fitbit one that I keep clipped on my bra. My husband keeps his in his pocket. We found them plenty accurate to get an idea of how much we are moving each day. Just be aware that they register certain kinds of movements as steps so if you have an activity that mimics that movement or eliminates it, you'll get more…

That is much clearer.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I said that if you do ab exercises, your abs will get stronger. You said they would do "absolutely nothing."
-
How can you say that? If you do ab exercises, your abs will get stronger. I did the Blogilates Beginner Calendar last month, and my core got noticeably stronger.
-
This seems misleading to me. You can get your measurements to change by exercising more. But you probably need to cut calories to lose weight. (Unless you're so close to maintenance that your exercise puts you into a deficit.)
-
I also wake up hours earlier without my alarm. Running is amazing.

Yes, I have had this. I have been exercising daily and doing C25K. Then last week I hurt my foot and couldn't do much of anything. At night I was vibrating from unexpended energy. I got out my hula hoop to use some of that energy up without stressing my foot much. The worst night, before I could even hula hoop, I had to…

Thank you!
