Week 5 is tough, but doable. I was on vacation in Cancun that week, and while d1 and d2 were fine, the heat was too much for me to complete d3. I ran most of it, walked the rest, and then repeated the week when I got home. At that point d3 was not hard at all! Good luck.

I'm not even trying to lose weight and I lost some inches off my arms, thighs, and calves. I was hoping to build muscle (and maybe I am, some, cause the scale stayed the same).

I am doing 30 Day Shred now. It may help you lose weight and build some strength, depending on your current level of fitness. If you are looking to lose weight, it might be a good choice along with dieting. My impression from doing it is that its focus is on weight loss. Really, it is more cardio with strength moves (with…

Well, she learned a lot about his character, didn't she?

Push ups are where I'm seeing the most improvement.
-
I guess it would depend on your build. My husband is 5'10" and looks good between 145 and 150.
-
I believe in you! Just don't push so hard that you injure yourself. It is better to be a little patient now and follow a program like C25K than to push extra hard now and be set back by an injury.
-
Yeah, 1000 calories per day plus exercise seems way too low...
-
Try using a program like C25K, but since you are already fairly fit you can probably start in week 3 or 4?
-
You are being hard on yourself for not being able to do something right off that most people have to build up to! (Both for fitness reasons and to prevent injury). It took me ten weeks to build up to jogging about 3 miles, perhaps a bit less distance than that, even. And I started in fairly good cardio condition from…

Swim laps and do lots of flip turns?
-
I got you, now. Yes, it can be an issue.

Possibly groupthink, but I don't think it was quite victim blaming.
-
Endorphins from exercise may make you feel like you could keep going and going, but you may still have done plenty. I have several times stopped exercising feeling like I could keep going, and a few hours later I'm sore and exhausted.
-
Agreed. I would have thought two years was enough time. The insistence of the running group that I shouldn't run made me reconsider everything. I thank everyone for their good advice. I am going to join the running group one day a week, and reevaluate running alone in that particular area later on. I wish I could get hubby…

Started being able to do traditional push ups again, rather than knee push ups.

Many women prefer to be able to go to the bathroom more frequently. There is nothing unreasonable about wanting to go every 2-3 hours, and that has nothing to do with a medical issue. In fact, for women holding it for too long can lead to an increased risk of infection.

Although it may be a long shot, check out what your local parks system has available. Most places, it probably won't be useful, but if you are lucky they might have pool and gym facilities for a very low price. I was delighted to discover that was the case in my area.

To be clear, there were, I believe, six or so reported rapes and attempted rapes this park against joggers by this particular rapist, who hides by the trails in the woods, waits for lone women joggers, and tasers his victims. The first victims were attacked, but the rapist got flustered when they fought back. The last two…

^ This. I grew up in a super-rural area, next to a national forest, where crime was very low. My estimation of relative risk tells me that in terms of *actual* danger, I would have to rank running places like this (more to less likely to get harmed): 1. Roadside running (could get hit by a car or bike). 2. Trail in rural…

5'3.75" (very tiny frame) CW: 116 GW: 110-116 I don't track my calories. I am probably considered fairly active. I live in the city with no car and range from 8k-20+k steps a day (average 17k). I jog three days per week, and do home exercise videos regularly. I also do some easy yoga/stretching.

Sharp pain is bad. Achy muscles are OK. If you do stretch, don't try to power through the pain or force yourself through discomfort. Be gentle and patient.

What is galling is the assumption that being concerned about one aspect of safety must mean that a person is in general fearful about life. It is upsetting to come to the conclusion that one must curtail one's desired activities for the sake of safety . . . but people must make these choices on some scale every day.

Thanks! I considered getting a cattle prod to carry like my mom did when she lived in a bad area in the 70s. I will do my research.
-
You are, in fact, being insulting then. You respond by again judging me and accusing me of being "sensitive."
-
Thank you. I would not have been concerned if it weren't for the explicit warnings of people who have been running there longer than I've lived in this neighborhood plus the existence of a specific predator who targets people doing exactly what I am doing. I hear you above about running in nice neighborhoods. However, I…

Are you trying to be insulting?

Please try not to judge a person's courage from one post. I have moved halfway across the world to a country where I didn't even speak the language and lived there alone, without fear, for over a year.

It's strange for me, I never was concerned in any of my adventures or travels before. Not did I feel concerned when I was jogging in this park. But now I do have a bad feeling.
