  • I'm in this 100+ club and taking my time. It's a life-change, not a diet. Whatever I chose to do, I have to be comfortable enough to live with it. I've been at it for just over 1 year, started at over 300 pounds and lost 57. In my head, I'm aiming for another 50. From there I'll reach for the next 25. It goes in bursts and…
  • I'm going through a cycle of depression right now, I spiraled over the weekend. My husband is diagnosed with depression (on medication for it) and was there to help me through it. Looking back, I went through a similar bought 7 to 8 years ago when I'd lost 80 pounds. My depression makes me want to control everything (let's…
  • I highly recommend this site: http://www.leannebrown.com/. Author, who is highly qualified, gives some good advice and good recipes for living on a tight budget.
  • ^^^ lol!
  • I cut out candy, cookies, cakes (ect). When I yearn for something sweet, I eat fruit. It always hits the spot. Everything in moderation, of course. I also learned that artificial sweeteners (such as in diet sodas) increases my sweet cravings. Water is always best.
  • Yes, I've shared all of this with him, and he's fully supportive. But hearing it and living it are two different things. Eventually it should seep in. :p Eating smaller portions of what he makes is a good idea. Particularly if he's not carefully measuring things out. Thanks!
  • You're totally making sense. And "lead by example" is perhaps the best approach. Once he keeps seeing me measure and weigh food, he'll see what I'm doing. Thanks!
  • That is totally adorable. And she is learning good habits through you as well.
  • Most of the things he makes he does without a recipe. And the unconditional love he gets regardless. I suppose what I'm dealing with is this is the first time I've attempted this weight loss journey with someone else in my life. In the past I've always been solo. So I'm trying to wrap my head around how to do this. Or…
  • I am hardly a workout queen (or expert) so this is all based on anecdotal experience. Many people here are giving wonderful advice, glean from them. If anyone needs a buddy, friend me and we'll motivate each other. Down from 310, I'm currently 275 and have literally started doing the C25K program on my treadmill. But to…
  • A sad NSV, but 5 years after inheriting a number of my mother's rings, I was able to slip her wedding ring onto my finger with room to spare. I would rather she was wearing it.
  • YES! This! One time husband and I had planned on dinner at this one local restaurant. I had gone online, looked at their menu, picked out what I wanted. Get to the place, it was closed for the evening due to private party. Grr.
  • My husband and I are hardly lazy. We both work full time and, in the past, would rely on takeout or those quick dinners from the grocery store. We started using Hello Fresh about a month ago and really like it. Meals take about 30 to 45 minutes to prepare. We're eating more veggies than before and learning about different…
  • I wasn't happy with myself, I hated looking at photos of myself. I had lost my swagger that I once had. At my last Dr. appointment I reached a number on the scale that I couldn't bare. Not to mention that my lifestyle also effects my husband who also struggles with his weight.
  • I am a firm believer (and follower) of everything in moderation. Portion control and planning works for me. Have said that, I feel better when I avoid eating processed sugars found in cakes, cookies,... For me, sugar leads to craving more.
  • A delayed response, but my husband and I used love it. Good for portion control, we eat healthier as we don't rely on take-out during the work week.

  • 5'5" SW 310 CW 279 GW 180 - once I hit that mark I'll access where to go from there. Baby steps.
  • I'm in a similar boat and used my new treadmill for the first time today. And while I'm no expert, instincts are telling me to start easy. Using manual setting so that I could adjust as I felt I needed, I managed a good, sweat producing 30 minute workout at a fairly good speed. I also didn't fool with an incline, that I'll…
  • I'm down 30 pounds and find I have all this energy. Tons. I can barely sit still. I'm itching to go home and use my new treadmill that was just delivered this morning.
  • Buffalo here as well!
