My goal is maintenance right now, but my motivation for my current journey with weight and body image is to feel happy and beautiful wearing swimsuits or revealing clothing around my friends, many of whom are slimmer than me. I want to enjoy a beautiful day in a beautiful place instead of thinking about that topic.

For me, whether weight gain is a problem depends on why I'm gaining weight. I weighed more when I lived in the Midwest than when I lived in California, because my lifestyle was different. But both could be stable, healthy weights - if I moved back to the Midwest, I'd expect to gain a bit but it doesn't need to be a…

I've noticed that my body image tends to be better after something has changed. E.g. a few years ago I lost a couple of pounds and wound up at my current weight. I thought I looked great and was super happy with my body and fitness level. But now I'm used to it, and I have started to notice the negatives instead of the…

The thing that I've been trying to incorporate with mixed success is not being afraid of being full. I think I've been too wary of experiencing fullness, which made me feel like I over-ate and would gain weight. This led me, counter-intuitively, to eat very calorie-dense things (especially sweets) since they do not really…

I probably max out at like 7 pull-ups with good form. Not sure about chin-ups, I never do those. I'm 122 lbs at 5' 3" (female). Back in the day I maxed out at like 20 pull-ups though my form was probably less good. I was probably like 115 lbs and 5' 2" back then. I was also a teenager so I think my weight is distributed…

This doesn't apply to every commute situation, but for me, I can choose to take a faster bus (45 min) that comes closer to my house and drops me off closer to work, or a slower bus that's farther away (1 hr+). Sometimes when I haven't had time to exercise and I feel like I have time to take it slower and stay later in the…

There are other benefits to convenience foods, depending on your living situation, as well. -Can be purchased many places fresh groceries can't. This is especially important if you rely on public transit to get to the grocery store and there isn't a reliable/straightforward route where you live. -Sometimes are portioned…

I think the thing about IF and eating disorders is that people with eating disorders often practice forms of intermittent fasting as an expression of a disorder. That doesn't mean anyone who fasts has an eating disorder, but probably some people who are involved in IF use the framework of IF to disguise (to others or to…

I started counting calories around age 13. I was 5' 2" and 125 lbs - not overweight, but definitely chubbier than almost all of my classmates. One of the tricky things about that age is that I was kind of heavy for a 13-year-old, but not heavy for an adult. So was I just going through puberty earlier and developing my…

When I know I need to eat or have signs like dizziness and fatigue but no appetite, I just try to go for whatever sounds the most appealing, even if it isn't what I would usually consider "healthy" or in line with my eating goals. For example, when I'm recovering from being sick, I often crave very salty things and simple…

I'm not a fan of the title of this thread. A young woman is not just a potential pregnancy. Many young women are not planning pregnancies and do not make diet choices based on some unlikely hypothetical pregnancy.

Hunger is such a weird thing. It's often not that closely related to how much (or how many calories) we actually need and consume. My goal is to try to listen to my body's hunger signals and eat when I want to, but make sure to eat something nutritious and make careful choices about treats. So if I feel very full after…

I'm 5' 3" and female, age 23. I recently compared BMRs with two friends who are much taller than I am (one is male, one female), and they were shocked at how low mine was compared to theirs, given that I'm a good 10+ years younger. Of course BMR is not TDEE, but it's a starting point, especially since we all have sedentary…
