emerrywe - I'm EXACTLY the same with ice cream! I tell myself any time I want, I can go to the ice cream parlor and buy a dish of ice cream, but I can't buy it at the grocery store because no matter how big or small the container it's gone in 24 hours (2/3 the first day, 1/3 the second day). But then I never go to the ice…

Raptor, I'm so glad to see your post! I have just started as a participant in a research study on the effectiveness of self-help programs for binge eating. What I know of it (they don't tell us a lot!) is that they are comparing three different programs - three groups of us. All I got is a book with weekly "lessons" and…

and reaction to photo (now that I actually looked) - very pretty!

oh, no, it wasn't sarcastic at all! I like your puppy and I liked your comment about her! (And maybe, uh, I spend too much time on facebook so I look for "like" buttons everywhere? :) )

Dance! I travel a lot and sometimes I'm in hotels without gyms. I've perfected the art of doing aerobics in my hotel room. Sometimes while watching movies on my computer. Or listening to music that gets my feet going. Of course there's no one else in my room to laugh at me - maybe you can do things in your bedroom? The…

And then some guy decides it's a problem and he should scorn it. If you don't like it, why read and respond? I thought it was all pretty funny, myself. Humor is good.

Where oh where is the "like" button!!!!

Most of the MFP calorie figures are based on this reference: https://sites.google.com/site/compendiumofphysicalactivities/home If you go through it, you'll get some sense of how the calories are estimated. It is obviously based on some research on actual calories burned by different people doing different things, but it…

You didn't say what kinds of foods you like to eat! There are lots of good options of all different kinds, but it makes sense to tell folks what you like - they they can probably offer suggestions for healthier, lower-calorie versions of those things. And welcome to MFP! This can be a very helpful place to get you going on…

I also plan on a late-night snack. Sometimes even a small glass of port or a cordial like Bailey's. Quite small glass - those things are really high in calories! But sipping them very slowly can satisfy the munchy urge for me.

Where do you all go to the gym? I don't think I've ever had an obviously sick person get on a machine next to me at the gym. If I were worried about it I'd switch machines. Nothing said, no dirty looks, nothing. The only time I respond to others who are sick is when I'm in an eating establishment - and then my preferred…

Sure it's possible to work out at home. I do it all the time. I work out in hotel rooms, too - a lot, as I travel way too much for work. It takes discipline, like any weight loss or fitness goals do. The key issue is what works for you. Some people do better with the structure of workout classes, some people want to share…

I often work out first thing in the morning - basically because then I just won't think about it. So I get out of bed and go to the gym before I even let myself get into a discussion (in my head) about why maybe I won't go right now or I'll put it off till later or maybe not go at all! Also I'm not hungry when I first wake…

BRaye, you are my inspiration on MFP! I'm glad to see you lose focus too. Well, not glad for you - but I feel like I have a teammate when you say that, 'cause I'm having trouble staying with it right now myself. And I so don't want to gain back any of what I've lost!
-
Me too! I do well all day, it's getting to be time to go to bed, I'm not tired. And then I start to snack. :-( The only positive thing is that I write it all down in my log - I'm not kidding myself that I'm not snacking. But that blows it for the day. Bummer.

Poor fellow, he only has half a face!

I think some of what I find strange is that (although I definitely don't look bony!) I feel different to myself. I mean, like I notice my bones if I touch my shoulders or if I'm lying in bed or something. It seems weird, doesn't seem like me. I spent most of my life in a world where being overweight was essentially…

And wondering how other folks are in such small clothes, even if you are more uniformly proportioned! Unless you're 0% body fat & all muscle...

5'3" size 14 pants, 12-14 bathing suit, probably 12 shirts. US sizes. built kinda zaftig - D cup, wide hips.

Nice guy with sense of humor and not obsessed about trying to look suave, slick, sexy, or anything besides himself. (love the tree hair, btw!)

I live there but not Canadian, so I couldn't vote, alas. Thrilled to see Harper out - wish the NDP had done better, though. Every time I lament that I can't vote, one of my Canadian friends tells me I'm the only one who can keep Trump out of the White House. (well, me & lots of other voters south of the border) I'll do my…
