My wife is like the best hiker, and I almost kept up with her while hiking Olympus yesterday. That says a lot about the shape I'm getting in. When she wants me to go faster she tell me that I'm the best hiker ever. Also saw 200lbs on the scale. Good day for sure. Now I have to get back on the training schedule for…

Hey, I know tough race conditions, people were super cold on the bike, lucky for me it was pouring rain when I got out of the water. I put on a coat and gloves. Did you do St George?

Awesome!

Me Too (Lessons learn). I like the jokes, the wisdom and the differing opinions, shared about real problems.

I wish I had part of your will power to say no to the treats, not fruit though. I give in to treats, probably, a bit too often. I have a problem with is with diets that cut out 100% of anything. I'm sure it needs to happen sometimes, but is is sustainable. After it's over, what then? The knack here is to find a balance…

I'm only half crazy. I finished the St. George Half Ironman with a smile on my face. The weather was a challenge. It was cold and rainy. I weighed this morning 206 lbs :(. although I'm happy that I finished. Did it in 7:01. I feel good on the Monday after. So over all I feel very successful and thankful.

Coeur d'Alene Ironman volunteers are awesome. Thanks in advance. You've made me curious to see if I already have a number. If I have one I can't see it. Thanks to you and all your friends who volunteer.

Thanks for sharing. Success stories are motivational to the rest of us.

That's a good question. I'm finally starting to see some difference. Yesterday I saw someone I have not seen in a few months and they said I looked like I had lost some weight. It's been 2 months of pretty steady increase with my swim, bike, and run with core mixed in about once a week. I should be doing more core and…

I ran home from work yesterday. It was 11 miles with one stop at the running store to buy some EFS liquid shot and another stop to stretch. The Half Ironman is this Saturday so it was probably excessive, so today I am going paragliding instead of riding my bike home.

My last report, I reported seeing a better number on the scale, when I read it again I wondered what I got down to, so I looked it up on my Spreadsheet. I recorded 203 lbs that day. I've only been recording my weight about once a week. Yesterday was another 3 hour workout and I saw 200 on the scale. I hope this is a trend.…

I hope I don't have to count everyday for the rest of my life. After counting for a while I get much better at estimating. I dropped off MFP for a while. That was because I kind of stopped normal workouts because of a neuroma in my left foot and sciatica on the left side. I was focused on fixing those not so much getting…

Counting calories occasionally really helps me see what I am putting in my mouth. Getting control of it is another thing all together. Knowing and being honest with myself is a start.

It sounds like you might have some good advice for the rest of us. Way to loose 60 lbs. Just 28 to go. Then maintenance. I've been seriously training for an Ironman for 2 months. I've gain some weight so I hope it's muscle. I sure wish I was 10 lbs lighter. I'm 6'2" 206lbs. I did my last Ironman at 186 10 years ago. I've…

I'm glad to see so many people on the same road to a healthier you. Me too. I've got 10 - 15 lbs to go. I don't know how to join or what joining means but I like the post I read and wish everyone the best.

So I'm learning how to search in MFP. Found this thread. Looks like it's gone cold. I'm planning on doing a half and a whole Ironman this year. I did Coeurdalene Ironman 10 years ago and I got it into my head to do it again. I'm on my way and getting into better shape. My half is less than 2 weeks out. Yikes! Ok so I'm…

I've enjoyed all of your comments on this topic. I searched for people doing Ironman events to see what they were up to. Great job on the Marathon. Sounds like you jump in with both feet. "Total Immersion", is a great book to read for triathlon swimming. Swimming with a local swim club can help a lot. If you can already…

Be thankful you hate it. Some people are so hooked on it they can't stop, even if they wanted to. Just saying. It's another way of looking at it. Some people love it but can't drink it. You have a good problem.

You look really strong in your upper body. Carrying those muscles in a marathon is hard. I had a trainer once who was super strong, but then he got into mountain biking. I saw him after a year of so and he looked normal again. Have fun! Good luck!

I've always tried to stay in good physical shape so that I can enjoy doing the active things I like to do. Not super extreme things, but kind of extreme things like skiing, paragliding, kite surfing and windsurfing, hiking, biking, etc. Not that I've always stayed in the kind of shape where I can do these things with ease.…

Yesterday I saw hope in my workout and on the scale. Everyone needs days like that. It was a warm day, in the low 80's. I biked 2 hours in the morning then ran 1.5 hours in the hottest part of the day to get a hotter run in. I don't want to get to my half Ironman and run in some heat without training in it. I did yard work…

wow well done

I really should be taking before and after pictures. I don't see any changes but I ran 13.5 miles and I feel good. The weight isn't melting away yet but something good has to be happening. I know I don't do enough weight training I've gotta figure out a way to do that more than once a week. I'm active, ride my bike to and…

I had a successful 10 mile run over the weekend. Feeling strong today.... Except for the extra two bagels this morning and then the free dessert they offered me at lunch. I gave in... to all three. The Strawberry shortcake was good. The bike ride in and home should help. You know, for me, food is the problem. I'm…

Welcome back. Looks like you are already as fit as the rest of us want to be. I've been back again for a month or so. It's been fun hearing what people are making of themselves. Better health and a few pounds is a worthy goal. You inspire me.

Great to hear

Good luck to you trish2011. Anything we do to get/stay healthy is worthy of our effort. You are right about taking it easy on the knees. Definitely take the running slow. Swimming is most people's fear for Triathlon's so you have that to your advantage. I wish you all the best.

I've run off and on since I was younger. Never been on a team but I have run all kinds of races. I've been in great shape and not so great shape, like now. I sometimes use a spreadsheet when I have an event coming up. I'm building towards an Ironman in August 2016. First time I did an Ironman I set and held to my goals…

Got up at 4:20 AM and ran 5.7 miles this morning. I figured it was better than just laying there trying to go back to sleep. Beside I wont have time to work out after work. All my longer runs lately have ended in .7 miles, curious. Does anyone else run early in the morning when they can't sleep? One good thing is there are…

That is a very elaborate story and probably an eye opener for most. Thanks for sharing. You got my interest. I've always been of the opinion that you can find whatever you are looking for on the internet. On a side note: my wife and I have grown to like dark chocolate with almonds. We sometimes have it in the house. We…
