I usually split the eggs as I crack them and give the whiter parts to my wife who is worried about high cholesterol.

BTW, my wife is super hot and fit!

Thinking I could do low carb high fat (when my wife is a sugar holic:) It's not a total blunder I just have to figure out a balance - lchf has made me more aware of easy sugar, like the doughnut, cookie, and pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting I ate today. I was super aware of what I was doing.

Hey it's coming off. Yea! Yes I did St. George last year. It was super cold and wet. People were shivering out of control. I was lucky to come out of the water at the same time as it was pouring so I took the time to put all my layers on. I'm doing it again this year. I couldn't do Coeurdalene because of the shoulder. The…

Just got back from a 10 day Mediterranean Cruise. Yes, I gained a few lbs, around six. It was the chocolate melting cake. OK, and I over ate most nights. It was worth it. My wife lost a few. Not fair for a second. But I'm happy for her. She is amazing! I feel good. My upper body is still very weak but I did light arm…

I got the titanium plate out yesterday. It went well. I'm feeling pretty good considering. So far ice and Ibuprofen is keeping the pain down enough. This time around my arm is a lot more mobile than the first surgery. I have to take it somewhat easy for a couple weeks then I will start some moderate exercising.

Why not! It's fun to see such a diverse set of people working on similar things. I play a lot so I work on my fitness a lot and yet never really get there. It's a funny game figuring out our own heads to see what works and what does not work. I like poking around in mfp and reading the things people are up to. It always…

No big news to record. I'm still toying with lowering my carbs. It's sometimes really hard to eat a lower carb diet, like 50 grams a day. I did it for a couple weeks. I could tell that I was in ketosis some of the time. Then things happened like, we had a anniversary dinner with all you can eat desserts (So good but I felt…

I like the sound of low carbing. Since 2002, wow! I faced a dinner at some friends where potatoes and rolls were served. I didn't want to be annoying so I ate a roll with butter and half a potato with butter, sour cream and cheese. I skipped the jam even though it looked really good. I'm thinking this is an easy diet until…

I'm 2 weeks into LCHF eating. It's been pretty good so far. I have ketone sticks now and have measured 4 times, twice, I was in a good range and twice, it did not look like I was in ketosis. The 2 times I wasn't in, was first thing in the morning, the other 2 were at night. Does it make a difference when you measure? I've…

I just went back and read most of the posts in this discussion. Thanks for the question and all the comments. I'm in my second week of drastically lowering carbs and raising fat. Avocado's are my friend, I eat them at least in 2 meals a day. I counted calories, I have been slightly over most day. I'm still figuring things…

Thank you for your comment, whether well meaning or not, they got me to read the rest of what was said in the links you shared. (I kind of think you did it on purpose). I took your statements as a rather stern, negative opinion towards low carb, high fat. Yet the links you shared, in my opinion, were rather positive…

Why did I include in the title of this discussion, "A long journey". It's almost like I made a self fulfilled prophecy. What's really cool about my road to success at the moment is this: I'm feeling great and losing weight without a lot of exercise and I definitely don't feel like I'm dieting. I almost feel like I'm…

I am now. Thanks for the tip.

A friend told me about this weird diet where he lost 50 lbs in the last 6 months. Guess what? I'm on that weird diet now too. It sounded so strange at first. Not eating easy carbs is hard, at least the decision to do it is hard. I'm 5 days into it. Started officially on Sunday August 14th 2016, but I was toying with it on…

Thanks, I did read a few post in that post. It looks like there are people who are just starting like me and people who have done it for years. I'll see if I can figure it out how to join. It'll be nice to see how other people are doing it.

I've almost completed week one, of eating a low carb high fat diet. Avocado's are my super food. This is the first time of changing my eating habits that I have seen and felt a significant difference in the first week. I don't have any ketone sticks yet but I'm pretty sure I've successfully entered Ketosis. I've not…

I'm interested in how you are feeling after a week. And if it was hard for you to give up carbs? My friend is on 6 months and has lost 50 lbs. Other than giving up carbs, it sounds great. I hope I see more about your progress.

I'm interested in how you are feeling after a month. And if it was hard for you to give up carbs. I have a friend who is on 6 months and has lost 50 lbs. Other than giving up carbs, it sounds great. Seriously, I'm not sure I can do it. I am having a hard time navigating to the posts after finding them with search. I…

Costa Rica is an awesome place to play before and after a race. Wish you well. I signed up for St George half. Once I've healed up I should have about 6 months to get ready for it. My ife and I have been hiking and flying a lot this summer. So I'm not totally out of shape. The titanium comes out early next month (Sep). I…

I'm thinking this morning about life and wellness. I'm not longer wearing my wrist brace for my broken left wrist. It makes typing interesting. My shoulder is healing. I still have metal inside holding my shoulder together. I've been good about not running, I couldn't swim, I'm thinking of starting to bike again but my…

I officially withdrew from Ironman Coeurdalene. I have decided that the half in St George will be my big triathlon. Spudman in Burley, Idaho will be the other Triathlon I do. It takes way too much time to train for a full. A half is doable while maintaining my life style. So, in a way, this accident helped me decide…

At the Post Op office visit my doctor convinced me to NOT, run or swim until after I heal and the plate is out. I have a titanium plate screwed to my collar bone which is holding up my clavicle which is holding up the rest of my shoulder and arm. Now that I see what he did, I agree that it's best to let this heal with as…

Best wishes for speedy healing! To you too.

I had surgery 4 days ago. I'm healing slowly. Every morning I can tell it's a tiny bit better. The Doc said to move the arm only from the elbow down until I see him again in a week. I've decided my diet is that more important now that I'm limited on moving. It hurts like crazy to move. I went 12 hours between pain pill…

I have the same question. I guess this site is about food and diet more than injuries. I wonder how the workouts went for him?

I hit a speed bump, so to speak, in my training yesterday. Actually it was train tracks. I went out in the street to get a better angle, but tandem bikes are so long and heavy. I probably started straightening out too early so that the back tire fell in the tracks and we went down. My wife is a tough little mama. She just…

I usually use more but I was trying to be skimpy. It seems to me to be just as good to have less.

I started celery as a filler snack today. I've done it before. Never seems to stick. It's OK by itself, but I've always liked it more with dip or something that has lots of calories. Is this a good ratio of peanut butter to celery? I figured 3 tablespoons peanut butter to 5 medium sticks. I tried it the other day with…
