I just think it's easier to wear my Fitbit and go for a certain minimum daily calorie burn. I have MFP set at a custom calorie level which will allow me to lose about 5 pounds per month, or just a bit over a pound a week. I've got a lot to lose so at this point, it seems to be working well.

I don't count small amounts of non-starchy veggies. For example a slice of tomato on a burger. A few lettuce leaves, etc. But as soon as it's a serving size of veggies, then I count it.

I eat 1500 calories five days a week, and 1800 two days a week. Or sometimes I have just one day where I go up to 2000 or 2100. But it's all included in my weight loss calculations so it's not really a cheat.

Thank you for all the great information. One question I have about negative calorie adjustment is, how does MFP determine what to expect when one wears a FitBit? Is it expecting me to do 10,000 steps every time I'm wearing it? Also, on some days, I take out an hour of steps on my FitBit dashboard and plug in an hour of…

Thank you for the fitbit help.

Thank you. Ok that makes sense. Another question - I believe that MFP allows you more calories if you exercise. Can I use those extra calories the next day since I often work out quite late at night?
