  • Forget about the deadline. Take it easy on yourself and focus on small changes instead of overwhelming yourself with all the changes you want to see. Don't look at it as losing 100 lbs. Lose 5 lbs. Then lose 5 more. Then 5 more...etc etc. Take it one week at a time, or even one day at a time. Remember everyday won't be…
  • Yes. If you go to your blog there's a menu called tools. Click on preferences and it has a setting "Your blog is viewable by", click the drop down and select "myself only"
  • Canadian but with Irish roots. Can't wait to travel there one day.
  • Starting 177 Week 1: 174.5 Week 2 : 173 Week 3: 171.5 Week 4: 170 Week 5: 168 Week 6: 168 I'm in the middle of a 10 day diet break so no surprise at no loss. Will be back at it again after the weekend.
  • It can be overwhelming when you first start but once you do and stick to your limits, you'll see that number get lower and lower. I find setting mini goals helps. Good luck. You both can do this. :)
  • Thank you all for your responses . Going to try for 10 days and start again after the September long weekend.

  • My fur baby is my motivation. He was a rescue dog, abandoned and pick up on the streets as a stray. He was transferred to our local shelter after the town he was found in couldn't find him a home, he was then adopted out and returned. We got him a couple weeks after that. Big lab/husky mix. Tons of energy. Everyday after…
  • Cereal. I can't believe I actually thought this was a healthy snack. Instead of munching on chips, I would fill a big bowl with a couple cups of cereal, add a large handfuls of raisins, almonds, granola. Plus I would add some chocolate syrup to the milk. (because I was having all these other healthy things in it, I…
  • Sorry you have to go through this. Years ago, I went through a divorce after 13 years. It was rough but so much happier today because of it. Been with my current SO for about 7 years, he was diagnosed with bipolar at the beginning of our relationship. Send me a request, I am happy to give you support. Best advice is to…
  • Cravings normally last anywhere between 5 - 20 minutes. Occupy your mind with something else for 20 minutes. Anything to give you 20 minutes of not thinking about your cravings. They should pass. Also I find I crave junk more if I let myself get too hungry. A healthy snack might help curb the cravings too.
  • Don't let it get you down. Everyone is different. All that matters is you are doing what is best for you. Just the decision to start is a big step that many don't ever take. Be pround of yourself and the choices you are making for a healthier you. :)
  • I'm 5'4" and 32 lbs left to lose (down from 47 lbs) Anyone can add me. My Diary is open to friends and I'm on daily.
  • Week 1: 174.5 -Down 2.5 lbs Last week: 173 - Down 1.5 lbs This Week: 171.5 - Down 1.5 lbs Loss since challenge start 5.5 lbs
  • Maybe instead of giving up, you can reassess? For weight loss to happen you have to be eating at a deficit. Exercise helps by burning more calories and that allows you to either A. Eat more or B. Have a larger deficit. However if you are not eating at a deficit, no matter how much you exercise, you won't lose weight. It's…

  • @MakePeasNotWar Those are all awesome ideas. I was thinking Medusa would be a fun one too. My guy is a really good sport so and has gotten more and more into Halloween every year we've been together so that's why I love doing couple themes - he lets me. Morticia and Gomez have been on the idea plate for years. (Only…
  • Oops, that should say 20 lbs lighter than him. I wish I was 20 lbs away from being at a healthy weight, but not quite there yet.
  • Nope, never told him my weight, not even when I was at a healthy weight and was 20 lbs lighter. I think I'd rather eat a bucket of nails than let him know my weight at my heaviest. I have another 15 lbs to go before I'm lighter than him again. Maybe then, if he asked, I might tell him what I weigh.
  • Love the Trillian & Arthur idea.
  • Weight last week : 177 Weight this week: 174.5 2.5 lbs gone Non weight progress. I easily fit into a pair of pants this week that I couldn't even button when I started MFP in June.
  • I think about a year from now. That year will come no matter what I do. I can either keep going, knowing that if I do, I will be healthier and in better shape, or I can go back to the path I was on before and be at an even higher health risk and heavier. So far that has worked for me every time.

  • First off, congratulations on losing 30 lbs. My guy works a physically demanding job and needs over double the calories I do even without my weight loss deficit. In fact part of the reason I'm here was I allowed myself to start eating like him, without being conscious of portions. He also isnt very good with change so I…
  • Just curious if we want to set up a group for this instead of just a thread?
  • I said no to the chocolate a co-worker brought in to share.
