I've been feeling a bit poorly lately which I why my calorie intake is low.

Make sure the scales are not on a carpet as it would be less accurate What I do is get in the scales at different times and get about 3 different weights and just choose an average.

For me, it was. I counted calories for a very long time but saw no results. Once I stopped counting calories and just ate in in moderation I noticed that I dropped a few pounds after a while.
