  • I've been a gym member from around 14 years old (currently 23). My favorite is group classes so I totally need a gym for that. I also started lifting recently so I need a gym for that. I'd love to have my own equipment, or a second gym membership to a gym that is closer and has better opening hours than my current one just…
  • You said it yourself, you can not spot reduce. Also, eating at a defecit is more important in weightloss than exercising. And as long as buying pants is an issue, wear skirts :)
  • Just want to say that I searched for recovery yoga on youtube. Did a nice 30 minute video and felt great afterwards. Nice and stretched and the soreness is my muscle is more manageable now.
  • Then are you sure you are not an hourglass? Anyway, overall weightloss will reduce fat on the thighs, but if you are truly a pear, that might be the last place it will start coming off. So basically, it will decrease as your total bodyfat decreases.
  • Toning isn't real. You can however lose weight and look fit and lean by doing strength exercises to maintain existing muscle mass. I personally love the gym so I hope you will enjoy it too!
  • Nope, won't change a thing. Rather, train your chest and shoulder muscles. If you fill out a bit more at the top you will look more balanced. But generally, (weight) train all your muscles to reduce muscle mass loss as part of weight loss.
  • Have to agree with this. Even if the scale doesn't reflect your feelings, you feel a lot better. That is the most important thing. Personal feeling (and how you look) trumps the number on the scale.
  • Are you an experienced lifter or are you new to weight training?
  • Rest. Let your body recover. Pushing it too hard too soon will only slow down your recovery.
  • Thanks, that was great. I was also thinking of doing some yoga today (on my rest day) to stretch those muscles out.
  • Machines don't burn fat, a calorie defecit does. Most of your weightloss will happen in the kitchen. Exercise is to improve your cardio vascular system, and maintain muscle during weightloss if you weight train. I second asking help from an instructor to explain the different machines. That is their job. Also, Elipticals…
  • If you haven't read this yet, read it. This is a MUST read. The answers given are good. You however make a mistake, MFP does not calculate TDEE, you need a different calculator for that. MFP calculates NEAT, and requires you to log exercise separately. TDEE is total daily energy expenditure and includes BMR, Activity and…
  • Same for me. I was never into any any sports, but finding something I liked at the gym and an addict was born.
  • Just curious, why would you need a recovery drink after BodyCombat?
  • How about checking out the must read post at the top. It links to the must read threads on this sub forum. Let me help you, start here https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10226536/bulking-for-beginners
  • You don't even have too. I knew I had to go, so got on dressed and all. Straight to the toilet. After that straight back on the scale, just to know the difference. (Don't worry, did wash my hands after that)
  • For a booty challenge it is sorely lacking glute bridges.
  • Actually, doing a full body weight training is much more effective for a beginner than doing a body split. Also, it is more cardio than weight training, but nevertheless a great place to start and get comfortable with weight training. Just make sure you don't do it every day but take rest days so your muscles can recover,…
  • Seconding the suspension trainer. Knock off brands are quite inexpensive.
  • Eat consistent, at set times of the day. Every day. That way your body will come to expect it and probably create a hunger feeling in anticipation. Kinda like a pavlof effect. Don't force yourself to eat more than you are comfortable with, because then younwill struggle at your next meal. Over time eating at consistent…
  • Totally normal. One day I weighed before and after visiting the toilet, 2 lbs difference.
  • Are you saying you can't change your goal to gaining?
  • That sounds like you are currently on a 2lbs a week weightloss. If you are close to your goal, try switching to a 0.5 lbs loss rate. That way you can get used to more calories.
  • All Les Mills group classes can be found under cardio. Otherwise Aerobics or Circuit ;)
  • This. Eating disorders are not focused on weight for everybody. Go see a doctor.
  • Thanks for clearing that up :) There sometimes is just so much nonsense going around.. So why are you looking at a macro split? As long as you are sedentary you should just focus on your calorie goal. Macro's don't really become important untill you are trying to increase (or maintain) muscle mass. Have you tracked/logged…
  • Body pump is under cardio exercise under Les Mills Bodypump. There however was a bug that prevented it from showing up in the app. Try the website instead.
  • A. Is answered by the posters above. B. No you can not tone muscle. There was a great post on that misconception a while back. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10229692/toning-is-a-deception
  • Why not just restart with a good structured progressive overload beginners program? -stronglifts 5x5 - ICF 5x5 - New rules of lifting - Starting strength - Strong curves It has weights and reps spelled out for. Is well balanced for your entire body. Doing machines won't help you overcome yout intimidation.... Just go for…
  • This. You will not get bulky. Just search the forum for a thread called weightlifting made me supah bulky. Also, you can not build muscle on a defecit. At most you will preserve existing muscle. Muscle that might become visible as you decrease your fat percentage...
