It is important that you know your TDEE and keep your calorie intake with it. You don't want to eat too little or too much. So yes your exercise calories are important and need to be taken into account. I honestly would be very surprised at 800 calories burned from walking however.

Yes it is very normal for your weight to fluctuation daily up and down. The best thing you can do is weigh at the same time and same condition. I weigh every morning after I pee and naked. Then I keep a running 7 day average of my weight. It will smooth out the ups and downs and show you a much better trend. It can be…

Huge difference between weighing your food and trying to match portion sizes..

You do not appear to need to lose weight. You will always have fat on your body and need to have it to live. What you should do is lift heavy and get lots of protein in your diet. Get yourself in a calorie surplus and build some muscle on your frame. Being fit is a journey and takes time. Build yourself up some and then if…

Todd, I agree with everyone that weight loss is not linear at all. I weigh every day in the morning after I pee to be as consistent as I can be. Some days I go up, some down, some stay the same. What helps me the most is I do a running 7 day average of my weight which smooths things out a lot and lets you see the trend. I…

I save calories and macros for the evening because that is when I am most likely to snack as well. I love having some Artic Zero ice cream 150calories a pint in the evening or something like that.

Weigh every day, but know that you will fluctuate a lot depending on water weight, food weight, timing of eating, etc. Calculate your 7 day average to run with it.

My diary is open.. always happy to share what I eat and why if curious.

This is ridiculous, not sure who Gary Taubes is but that is bad advice that will drastically affect your weight.

This 1000%

I'm stuck on Artic Zero.. macros rock

Yes if you are in a deficit it is very hard to even maintain muscle let alone grow it. When you are in a deficit your body wants to eat fat and muscle. You need high protein some studies show as much as 1.2 grams per pound and a muscle overload (hypertrophy) lifting program. It is amazing my wife and I have been on this…

I grill mine mostly and use very little olive oil.. usually in a spray can so I can just lightly cover them.. Sometimes I don't use anything but seasoning at all. The grill is your friend! :)

They didn't ask about spot reducing, but exercising a specific area. Squats, Romanian split squats, Leg curls, Leg lifts, hip thrusts, leg press....
-
If I use it I log it.

You need to take into account your total calorie burn in order to know what your deficit is. Don't think of it as eating back your calories. Think of it as total burn and staying say in a 20% deficit overall.
-
You just will not be able to do anything that causes your legs to shrink except stay in a deficit and slowly lower your body fat. No matter what anyone tells you, you can not exercise any particular area and cause fat in that area to burn.
-
Just cut back on carbs and add protein. You can lose weight with any calorie deficit and any macro balance, but I think you would find yourself feeling much better and maintain muscle much easier with a lot more protein. I run about 44% protein, 36% carbs, 20% fats
-
In a deficit I eat around 1.2 grams per pound. In maintenance down around. 8 per pound. It helps maintain muscle mass in a deficit.
-
My suggestion is to keep yourself in a 20% deficit overall. So yes you have you know your total caloric burn to do that. I measure and weigh all my food. I estimate my weightlifting burn for the week and just keep my calories flat off that.
-
1000 calories deficit seems like a lot to me . 20% is about all I will do.

Don't feel too bad, word has it her husband is a bit too old to comment in this thread too

Monday and Tuesday are rest days.. ready to get the workout going today. It's chest day and I miss the gym.
-
lift heavy, add weights as you can. My wife and I both do this and when we can repeatedly hit 3 sets, 6 reps we add weight. She looks amazing!
-
Anything that gets you motivated and on a path to being more fit is a good thing.. congrats on your journey.
-
Does not seem to bother me.

Need more details, but clearly you are still burning more than you are taking in. It's certainly not all about carbs either. Don't fall for that.
-
It is certainly awesome that my wife and I do this all together. We workout together, meal prep, and each others biggest coach and cheerleader.

As I approach 50 I wondered if I would have to find a new thread!!
