I left when she got mad because we didn't spend enough time with her horse at a Christmas party. I wish I was making this up

I haven't read all of the responses, but I would tend to agree with the ones I did. Ignore everyone else, every gym has some of those, prime times are the worst, you just need to focus on yourself, etc. I know I sound pandering; not my intent. I've been around gyms for a long time, and I still can't stand those people who…

I was dealing with this same question a few weeks ago. I'll share the most helpful advice I got: you're overthinking it. Start by trying the setting at lightly active, and if it isn't working out for you it is easily changed later.

I'll just reiterate what others have said: if you want to improve your trail running, go trail running. I would say that if your race location is nearby, go run/hike the exact route ahead of time. No rules against it, and you'll know exactly what to expect come race day. I've only done one trail race, but trail running is…

I do tend to over-think things, especially late at night when I should be sleeping. Thanks to everyone; I'll start with lightly active and see how it goes :)

Good for you! For some, the most difficult part is getting started into a fitness program. Stick with it, and great results will follow. There is a lot of good advice in these forums, and plenty of people for support. It's a great community

I've tried Runkeeper, Endomondo, MapMyFitness, and even just manually logging exercise here. My favorite by far is Strava. My cycling friends got me onto it, and I've now even upgraded to premium. Syncs with my Garmin running watch and MFP. No complaints

The most surprising things to me: 1) With regards to wardrobe: the sheer volume of workout clothes (tech/moisture-wicking shirts, shorts, running tights, fancy socks, running shoes, etc) that I have managed to accumulate. And how often I use my workout clothes as my going-out-and-about clothes. 2) My unending appetite.…

I have been at my current job since March 2015. About a month or two after I started, one of the guys (call him Jeff) quit to go to another company around town. While driving with a coworker last week, we ran into Jeff at a mini-mart. He and my coworker started chatting; after a few minutes, he looked at me quizzically and…

This is a great story! Everyone who EVER got back into shape has started with ONE step. ONE workout. Just remember the your feeling of victory today through the tough times, and there won't be anything that can stop you. Congratulations!!

This is my sweet pup. She's my best friend, my constant companion, and an ongoing motivation for my fitness, especially running. She gets far too hyper if I don't run her every few days haha. Best dog I've ever had, and I've been very blessed in my life when it comes to dogs. (and I also don't know how to resize photos lol)

I don't like the idea of "going on a diet" or "[fad] diets". But I don't hate the word itself. I just use it as the easy reference to my eating habits. I've been sticking to my summer "training diet" again, just meaning that I'm more closely tracking my intake again compared to the last few months. I just look at this way…

Half of my runs incorporate my mutt. She's getting better, but still wears herself out early. She isn't good at distance yet.

I'll set a goal for 100 this march. That's about 25 a week, which is pushing my current weekly average slightly (I average a little over 20 per week).

Glad you beat me to the punch there. It was where I started when I was looking for a new one back around November. Like I said, I ended up with a Garmin running watch and I absolutely love it (I think it was about $120; its the Forerunner 15). I was looking at the Jawbone too though. They all have ups and downs, but the…

Unfortunately my main recommendations are Fitbit or Garmin, both of which are in the $100-$150 range. I used my Fitbit for years and loved it, and once I started running I upgraded to a running watch that does all the same and more. Check out this page: http://www.wareable.com/fitness-trackers/the-best-fitness-tracker They…

I definitely track the macros: 50% carbs, (try for) 40% protein and 10% fat. Generally I hit closer to 50%C, 30%P, and 20%F. I used to shoot for a lot more protein, but when I visited a nutritionist she advised me to shift to a 50-30-20 type for my lifestyle. Seems to be working ok; I still keep a low calorie count. Hard…

Runner, though and through. Especially trail running, when the season's right. Cycling and swimming are right up there too.

Well I just hope I don't let you down :) I'm not gonna lie; it's a crappy, difficult hole to be in as I'm sure you know. I still find myself battling those depressing thoughts, self-doubt, and self-destructive tendencies sometimes. But it really can get better. It's a lot of F-ing work. But for me the rewards have been…

Thank you all for the kind words, truly! They are definite sources of inspiration to keep moving forward! I am bad about checking forums, so I forgot to get on for a few days. But I really appreciate all of you reading and responding. I hope everyone is achieving their goals, too!

Thank you all! :) another thing that has made me especially happy is that my hard work has inspired my father to get healthier as well. He told me the other day that he's 26 pounds lighter, according to his doctor. He also walked his first 5k on Super Bowl Sunday! I'm very proud of him. And thanks for the pup compliment!…

With the weather being nice in my area, I went into my closet to grab some shorts. All of the shorts I own are too big, to the point where I could fairly easily slip them over my waist without unbuttoning them. While I am excited and stoked, I'm also kinda bummed. I'm a broke college student and I can't currently afford a…

I keep my facebook only so that I can easily log into different websites without having to remember usernames/passwords. Otherwise, I can't remember the last time I actually used the facebook site itself. I think it was a few months ago where my mom kept pestering me about something stupid she put on my wall. Yup. That…
