I agree the weight alone doesn't tell you much. A 200 pound woman can look much more attractive than a 130 pound woman. Isn't that sort of the point of the site to sort of remind you that just because you feel bad about your weight or appearance, you don't see your body objectively & are probably too hard on yourself.…

Size 18 to a size 12. Havent worn this size since I was 11. Lost 55 pounds and I've got 20 to go

It's really hard or maybe impossible for me lose weight when im depressed. I've been depressed a large percentage of my adult life and when I read your post it sounded familiar. I would consider seeing a doc. Therapy isn't for everyone but sometimes just hearing someone tell you that it's not your fault and your brain has…

Just in time. I'd like to join! I've lost 55 pounds and have just 20 to go but I'm losing steam and have been spinning my wheels since july. This will be perfect to push me forward. Weight now: 184. Goal by end of challenge: 170

I will consider it but I make like 6000 dollars a year so...it might not happen. Maybe i can find someone who is affordable.

Oh also the easiest part of the ride for me was the last 15 miles. I got a second wind plus i was high on exhaustion. I stopped riding at exactly 100 miles but i felt great like i could have kept going. I think that is pretty common so you have that to look forward to when you start feeling like "uhgh when is this going to…

That sounds like fun! I would be horrified to do a century with a group. I did mine with an avg speed of 13mph. But i have some social anxiety i need to deal with. Before my ride i ate a big dinner the night before (pasta) and had a light biking day (like 5 or 6 miles) but i walked for around an hour or so. Two days before…

I would really love to do a long trip sometime soon and camp out. I'd have to go alone because i dont have any bike buddies who'd be interested. I want to get in better shape before i do long miles 2 or more days in a row. I'm not afraid of camping alone. I did some hitch hiking after i graduated high school and spent…

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement and suggestions. Bikerchick I'm already implementing some of your ideas. I dont drive at all. I dont even have a license. Im usually only in a car once a week sometimes not all during the week. So yeah, that does add the miles even though anywhere i need to go is within 5 miles…

Oh well. I will meet people eventually. I ride my bike up to frankton every once in awhile. Cute town.

I didnt mean to post that yet. Anyway, I havent gotten a fitting or anything just adjusted the bike myself. I seem to get tingly hands if I dont switch up every once in awhile. I used to not be able to get on my drop bars comfortably because my belly was too big but now I can. :) I hope the fitting works well for you.

My hands go numb too if I dont change positions enough. Do you have drop bars?

Thats great youve already ridden so much this year. I have time to do this because I work at a university and I rarely work during the summer. I dont clip or have toe cages or straps. I ride a 19 1/2 pound Bianchi road bike with continental 700x23 tires. I dont drive at all so I bike all year round to work/grocery store or…

A squirrel tail. It had been on the road so long that it was dry and didn't smell so I picked it up and tied it to the seat post of my bike. It was there for over a year. I took my bike to the shop and the shop owners cat pulled it off and the owner thought his kitten had killed a squirrel. haha

I ate an entire loaf of homemade banana nut bread and a 12 inch pizza when I rode 100 miles. I would start to drag and stop for a snack; after eating I would feel 100% again. You may just need to eat some carbs for the day. I did a 50 mile ride last summer without eating at all (it was kind of spontaneous) and I didn't…

Oh also, I just joined MFP 3 weeks ago and it's working well for me so far. I had been using a pocket sized notebook to record calories up to this point. The app sure beats pen and paper. :) Before I was eating the same low amount no matter how much exercise I did. After starting with MFP I've started eating more and I…
