  • I just read this tid bit in a book where a therapist was helping a patient who sweated profusely and had all kinds of mental crap/anxiety associated with that. The therapist suggested to the man to announce to everyone that he sweats like crazy and it's incredible how much he sweats and then to say to himself "I'm going to…
  • I add nuts or nut butter to whole fat greek yogurt. I feel full for several hours after eating this. I agree with others who said this is highly personal, also probably changes for the individual day-to-day as well. Sometimes i wont feel satisfied until Ive eaten a bunch of salt. haha. Dont be scared of fat though, i…
  • I was really resistant to trying meditation but once I did I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was for me...I almost never feel like I have as much time for it as I want. It's hard to integrate into my routine, I'm a stay-at-home mom to two toddlers. I started out with 20 minutes at home once a week and going to a…
  • I found that alcohol calories are not equal to others. Alcohol does terrible things to my metabolism. When i was losing weight (im pregnant now) I could do everything the same (90 minutes 5 days a week intense cardio, 1500 calories) and if i had even two drinks i would maintain or gain and i always calculated it into my…
  • I've met some people recently doing the low carb thing and they were both doing weekly "high carb days" and both siad they had vomiting and diarrhea on the cheat days. That sounds miserable. I don't care how well it's working. I would much quicker shame them than someone carefully planning a poptart into their day. Health…
  • I was gonna say eat more often but by your sample day looks like you have that covered. Sounds like you need more calories.
  • i have a friend who logs 70 calories for going up a couple flights of stairs. I try not to let things like that on here irritate me. I'm 5'5' pregnant & gaining & 210 poundsish now & i burn like 600-700 an hour giving all i got. When i was bigger and cycling a lot i did burn close to 1000 an hour but i had to average…
  • I've had success after long stretches of very low calorie intake by doubling my calories and exercise. I realized i prefer to exercise more to lose/maintain rather than restrict calories. I wont go back to a low cal diet ever again. I hate that feeling of being irritable and weak and tired. I want to be strong & healthy…
  • Avocado, nuts, dried fruit....cheese. :)
  • I'm pregnant and always craving fruit...so lately my plate...or bowl rather has been like 50% fruit, 40% low fat dairy and 10% walnuts, cashews or peanut butter. Breakfast is always lots of eggs though.
  • Might try a different brand of powder. I had some recently with fake sugar which i really cant stand but at work where i make smoothies we have unflavored/unsweetened whey protein and you really cant taste it. Also powdered peanut butter is a low cal option which could be used like protein powder and tastes great. I agree…
  • Also I get 100-130 grams a day but i also eat dairy and eggs. I love eggs. You didn't say you were vegan. Maybe just eat like 3 eggs a day. I really enjoy quiche, omelets...really eggs prepared anyway. Since i'm pregnant i started eating fish too but it grosses me out. It would be very hard to stay low calorie if your main…
  • I like tempeh. Fermented soy does not have the same kind of bad reputation as regular but after doing some research im not really worried about soy messing with my hormones. I eat beans almost daily and I really don't fart more than the average person...and my farts smell good anyway because i don't eat meat. :)
  • Only one way: naked once a week same time first thing after you wake up after pooping & peeing before eating or drinking anything Then you have the closest you can get to your lowest possible weight with no other variables (that you can control). There's always things like time of the month for women and water retention…
  • This thread is making me hungry.
  • Youtube is amazing for learning new exercises.
  • I think MFP's calculator is right on, for my body at least. I would suggest eating back your exercise calories. I did 90 minutes of cardio, 6 days a week at 1200 calories and i lost a lot of weight fast but it hurt really bad, i damaged my health and i gained a lot back. I felt much better and found i could work out more…
  • original silk soy milk has less sugar than 1% or skim cows milk.
  • Good luck! I'll watch for your updates.
  • You can definitely lose that amount in 8 weeks if you don't mind gaining it back later. ;)
  • I have an MFP friend who swears by this method. Look up intermittent fasting. There's some science behind it but i personally cant do it. I get loony by noon if i dont eat breakfast.
  • cycling uses a different muscle set than the exercises/sports you are good at. I could do a 100 mile ride and average 16mph and not even be incredibly tired but I couldn't even run around my block. If you want to get fast just practice, practice and set goals and challenges for yourself. It takes me about 2 months of…
  • I've gained like 8 or 9 pounds, I'm 13 weeks. I was already on a steep upward climb after suffering a miscarriage in late August. My hormones were crazy and i was stressed and upset. I was able to eat through my morning sickness this pregnancy. I lost weight during my first pregnancy and i was trying to be more proactive…
  • I'm due 7-12. Jealous of your boob woes. I've gone from a nearly A to an A cup, still not needing to wear a bra.
  • I set my goal at "maintain my weight" and just log my extra needed calories as exercise "Sybilla burned 300 calories building a baby". The nutrient requirements are pretty close, except i try to double the iron and calcium and i don't worry about staying under the fat goal. It doesn't take much to switch to using MFP for…
  • I have some healthy alternatives that I try...like a couple nights ago I was dying for sour patch kids candy and we actually had some in the house. I ate two giant kiwis instead and i told myself that if i still wanted the candy after that i could have it but i didn't, the kiwi was just what my body wanted. Or I try peanut…
  • That 65% to 80% of people who lose a large amount of weight gain it all back or more in a year. That our bodies are fixated on returning to our highest weight in order to have the best chance of survival (we evolved in a world where food was hard to get) and that the losing and regaining takes a serious toll on your…
  • Any Hoosiers are welcome to add me as well. I'm in Anderson. I've lost 55 pounds. I'm in a bit of a struggle spot now so I won't be the most inspirational friend but my journal is open and I post updates about once a day.
  • Mine is open, anyone can add me. I'm a vegetarian. My vice is good beer. :) no fast food and very little processed food but I'm by no means an exceptionally healthy eater.
