I'm not a runner and I failed miserably with the first few weeks of C25K and ended up going back to walking. Sounds like you have some great advice here from people who know. But I do want to add that I have exercise induced asthma and didn't learn I had it until later in life when I went to an amazing doctor for my…

Chocolate, especially dark chocolate is actually good for you. It's about moderation. Allow yourself a small amount when you feel the craving, log it, and stay within your calorie goals. You don't have to deprive yourself. I don't buy the junk food so it's not a choice when I want to "graze". I try to prepare my food ahead…

I'm wondering what you mean by "trying" when you say you've been trying to lose weight. What sort of things have you tried? To gain 10 pounds and say you eat 8 tortillas and lots of bread a day seems like you're not actually trying. I don't mean to sound harsh. It's just that losing weight takes a certain mindset to be…

I agree! It's my favorite thread on MFP. I have it starred so I can get all the updates. So motivational. I'm 50 pounds down and hope to post a before and after when I reach my goal. I have 40 more to go. Thanks for all the inspiration everyone!

Have you tried the hands free leashes? A lot of runners use them, but they're fine for walking your dogs too. http://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Paw-Premium-Lightweight-Reflective/dp/B00UZXPM00/ref=sr_1_5?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1456591899&sr=1-5&keywords=hands+free+leash

Hi, I'm Sara. I started MFP on July 1, 2015 at my highest weight of 238 lbs. I lost 30 lbs in three months and was then diagnosed with an acute leukemia (APL) in early October. For obvious reasons, I no longer focused on my diet as I fought for my life. On November 30th I found out I was in remission and by Jan. 1st I was…

I love seeing the pics of everyone's dogs. Yes, my dog has definitely made me be more active. I was diagnosed with leukemia back in October - thankfully I'm in remission - but the chemo has left me with no energy. But my herding dog needs to be walked each day so I force myself. We do two 20 min. walks a day. In the long…

I'm going to have to check out this Happy Scale. I weigh daily because it helps keep me accountable and I get extra motivated when I see my weight drop. I log my daily weight onto my google calendar, but only log on MFP once a week. If I don't lose one week I'll wait to log when I've lost.

I'm also on warfarin and I'm not sure why they have told you not to have Vit. K in your diet. I spoke with two doctors about this when I was first put on it and it's all about being consistent in your diet with vit. K foods. It's fine, and in fact, very good for you to eat vit. K rich foods. I'm a huge spinach and brussels…

Hi All! I thought I already joined this thread... but can't find my original post, so maybe not. I started MFP on July 1st so I'm going to use that as my starting date and weight. Wow, you're coming from such a place of "lack". I think anyone would feel overwhelmed when looking at a diet this way. In reality, you need to make a life style change (not go on a diet) and that's the easy part. The hard part is reframing the mental approach you take because that's what's going to carry you through in the…

I've applied. This looks like a lot of fun!

Losing weight and exercising is such a personal journey for me so I understand what you're saying. What your friend is doing would drive me crazy. It sounds like you know what you need to do. I agree with the others that have said to just stop talking about it. The next time she brings it up, I'd probably let her know that…

Weight loss is like stair steps. Drop, plateau, drop, plateau. A lot of times when someone firsts starts dieting there's an initial big loss that's mostly water weight. This isn't a bad thing, it's just that your body burns glycogen which is your immediate energy source. Glycogen is stored in water (4 grams for every 1…

Day 2 of the challenge - done! I've found a gym nearby with a large indoor track (too hot here to walk outside). So I'm feeling good about the challenge so far. I think this first week the number of steps needed is easy, but then I'll really need to push it to keep adding those numbers. But that's why it's called a…

I'm joining in, thanks for the thread. I'm horribly out of shape, but love walking/hiking - just haven't done it in a while. I'm in southern Arizona and it's HOT right now, so I just joined a gym with an indoor track I can walk. Yesterday I began a "30 day to 10,000" steps challenge and am using walking as my main form of…
