  • I'm impressed and also with the others that have asked why you feel you need to be more active? I realize you're working when you get most of your activity and it doesn't seem like you're being challenged because it's incidental exercise, but 18,000 steps a day is very active! You lose weight in the kitchen. Exercise is…
  • Yes - I'm so disappointed by this! I loved seeing my sleep percentage. It was one of the key data elements that I checked regularly. I've read the discussions on the Fitbit forum and it appears they won't be putting it back. There were a lot of complaints... but it didn't seem to help.
  • Yep, this is exactly what I do too.
  • SW: 174.4 Week 1: 172 Week 2: 171 Week 3: 169 Week 4: 168.4 Down -.6 this week. Not much, but I try to be patient during these mini-plateaus and wait for the next woosh. Total progress in challenge thus far = -6 lbs.
  • When you first start exercising or up your exercise, your body can retain water because of muscle repair. Sounds like you're doing everything right, so I bet @ashcky is right and you'll have that woosh soon!
  • As you can see from my profile pic (avatar) my dog is my constant side-kick. He spent his first year as a stray in the desert. Skin and bones, so hungry, thirsty and dirty... I was the last tourist he ever begged from. :) He's the best gift in my life! He goes every where with me and our daily walks are the best! I know…
  • I have a running mantra when I find myself getting upset with other's comments/behavior: "It's not about you. It's about them and how they see the world." Nothing is ever about you. We all live with our own colored glasses and nothing others do is personal. They're living and functioning based on their own bias, prejudice,…
  • I have a sticky note on my mirror that says "Say Something Nice". If I catch myself saying something negative, I stop and thank my body for all it's been through with me. I've been unkind and abused my body and all it's ever done is fight the good fight for me. In fact, a year ago I was at deaths door with a very…
  • I'm going to relate what's worked for me to lose 70 lbs thus far. I'm 5'7 and weigh 168 so almost the same stats. I have 15 more pounds to lose to get to my first goal weight. I'll reevaluate at that time to see if I'd want to lose a little more. I can tell you that this has been a long journey and one I've made many times…
  • SW: 174.4 Week 1: 172 Week 2: 171 Week 3: 169 -2 lbs this week. Happy with that! :D Down -5.4 lbs. so far for this challenge.
  • SW: 174.4 Week 1: 172 Week 2: 171 I didn't maintain a strict calorie intake this week. I considered it a maintenance week because of my daughter visiting from out of town for a performance I was in. So it's nice to see a 1 lb. loss anyway. Moving in the right direction.
  • I lost weight (70 lbs so far) even when I couldn't exercise due to a serious health issue. Now I'm better and can walk, but most of my loss has been because of logging my food and keeping my calories at goal. You don't have to go to the gym. But, you do have to watch the diet. Calories In vs. Calories Out... You can still…
  • Started this process at a tight 16 jeans and even had a pair of 18 that fit much more comfortably. Yesterday I was shopping and saw a pair of jeans I liked. I'm down to a size 12 now but they only had a 10. I tried them on and they pulled right up! EEK! I'm in a 10 now!
  • Is that a slinky on her wrist?
  • I like focusing on the next mini goal. It helps not to be overwhelmed when looking at the total amount of weight I needed to lose. I liked having lots of little mile stones so I broke it up into 10 lbs goals; also added 1/4 mark, 1/2 way mark, and 3/4 mark; and also added getting under 200, BMI overweight mark, and my…
  • Why are you only eating salad and Boca Burgers? You're one of the fortunate people that loves to cook and create so you could be having fun creating low calorie, delicious meals. If you don't like what you're doing now to lose the weight, how will you maintain your weight loss at the "end". This is your chance to make a…
  • How long have you been stalled? Weight loss is not linear, more like stair steps: swish, stall, swish, stall. I tend to remind myself of this and keep logging my meals and stay at my calorie allotment. It's hard sometimes to be patient but if I know I'm logging accurately I try to ride it out. My stalls are never more than…
  • Lost 2.4 lbs this week. I'm happy with that. Have logged all food, averaging 1200 cal./day allotment. On track to lose the 15 lbs by New Years! :)
  • I'm lucky in that I don't crave sweets, so they usually aren't a temptation. But, there are other things I crave so I either work them into my calorie allotment for the day or I don't bring them into the house at all. It's so much easier for me to prep my food ahead, grab what I need for my meal or snack, and don't have…
  • Well, there's a lot of natural rewards that have been built into my weight loss, like the fact that I'm doing more of the things I used to do (hiking, socializing, swimming, photography, etc). My health and how I feel has been the biggest 'built in' reward. Things I do for myself: New cute clothes as the old ones become…
  • I started at a US size 16/18. Am now a size 12. I'd be happy being at size 6-8.
  • This is so true!
  • Setting mini goals for myself has been a huge motivator. I think it's great that you're using this time of year to set mini goals since, like you said, there are a lot of distractions during the holidays.
  • I have been very heavy and very thin a few times in my life and there's no doubt people treated me differently. How much of it stems from the confidence I show outwardly, I don't know. But it's sad that I'm generally treated better the thinner I am, so I know what you mean. I try to treat people with kindness and respect…
  • It's very frustrating, I know. You're working hard and you want to see that reflected at every single weigh in. But it's very normal for your body to fluctuate, especially for woman, and you can't let that derail you. The progress you see is going to be over time. I tend to have two week, short little plateaus, and then…
  • While I agree that 10 lbs is quite a lot to expect in a few weeks, if you're just starting then you might lose a good amount of water weight the first week to help you towards your goal. When I first started at 238 lbs. I lost 11 pounds my first week from my body releasing fluids. It also depends on how much you weigh as…
  • Health is a huge one for me since going through leukemia this past year. I never want to take my body and health for granted again. I'm determined to take the best care of myself that I can. Confidence in how I look. I love fashion and want to wear the clothes that I love and know that I look good. Activities. I use to…
  • I log my meals, and stay around 1200 calories/day. For the most part I avoid processed foods, low sodium, keep protein up because it helps to satisfy me. Multi-vitamin. Walk everyday for about 30-40 minutes. Nothing fancy going on here. But it works and is a lifestyle that is easy to maintain.
  • I'm able to open the spreadsheet but it's "view only" mode, so I'm not able to edit. I was going to add my name and weights...
