I am strictly concentrating on the ability to successfully do certain power feats such as handstand push-ups and muscle-ups. I have taken up yoga as well, due to flexibility being an important part.

I agree with not cutting all out right from the start, unless you are extremely disciplined. I don't drink soda, but every now and then I will share one with a friend. It took a lot of mental work to get to that point though.

Starvation mode does exist. It simply takes an extremely long time to develop, and occurs in extreme conditions where the body tries to preserve calories. The word extreme refers to damn near a week of not eating AND still exerting energy.

Yes this is considered low impact body weight training. This would be a decent start to building a foundation for higher impact movements.
