I bring enough food to work for a morning and afternoon snack and my lunch. I keep it in my cubicle with me rather than putting it in the fridge. I have reminders on my phone to eat my snacks so that I don't get to 11 AM and feel starving. Since I'm not generally hungry now, I'm less tempted by the treats and I can make…

@JenHuedy You are SO right about bundling. I listen to audio books while I do my resistance/strength training. I find that getting lost in the story helps me do more reps. Music is great for me for cardio, but I prefer a good story if I have to do crunches. I try to save new books that I've been anticipating for my…

@aleahurst A craft cabinet without googly eyes is like a cookie jar full of Weetabix. @KimF0715 If you want to go to the gym, go as early as possible. Pack your bag and go straight from dropping your daughter off at school if you can. The later in the day you plan to go, the longer you have to find reasons not to go. You…

@Motorsheen I loved The Water Knife. It stuck with me for days and I still occasionally think about it when I have a shower or fill up my kettle. I highly recommend Station Eleven. Without giving spoilers, it's a vaguely post-apocalyptic story about a troupe of travelling actors and musicians. If you are looking for…

For your first go at it, I really recommend trying recipes you already know how to make. Then start small, like introducing one or two new recipes per week. Meal planning is tedious and frustrating, but it gets easier the longer you do it. But here's how it works for me... On Friday or Saturday I go through my list of…

If you are sick, I think all bets are pretty much off. Eat what you can, focus on feeling better. If you are worried, maybe a nice smoothie or cup of broth would feel nice on your sore throat and add a few calories to aid your body in fighting the illness. Otherwise, accept that occasional bugs will happen and get back to…

If the laughter idea above doesn't work for you (though I like the idea), maybe you could come up with a default statement like, "That's an inappropriate thing to say and will not help me to be healthier or happier." Every time she says something mean about your size, you repeat the statement - even if there are other…

Hey everyone! I see we all had some ups and downs this weekend. I'm glad everyone seems to be prepared to shake it off and move on today. Even when we went off our plans or overindulged we seemed to find some small part of our weekends that were beautiful behaviours so YAY US! @aleahurst Sleeping in is awesome! Glad you…

@MaddieRainbowHealth I meant to follow-up. How are you doing? Have you been able to get back on the bike?

Good morning everyone! @alaskandelight Welcome aboard! I love good recipes! You seem to have a lot of good ideas and have really given thought to your journey. @jessiquoi Yay for non food rewards and crochet! My friend gave me an early birthday present of some sort of those light up hooks and I can't wait to try them out!…

@jessiquoi Anxiety and depression are big fat liars. The anxiety is telling you lies. Someone gave you that responsibility because they have faith in you. Look how big a support you are to all of us here. You need to have faith in you! You know a binge is possible, so take a step back and try to focus on something…

@Wendycorral You'll probably make a few mistakes along the way. I know I did. But that's okay. If you are doing this to improve your life, a few hiccups don't make much of an impact. The trick to figure out what the mistake was and try to fix it for next time. I have a really bad habit of hitting the back button instead of…

@toxikon has the right idea! I do the same thing. Make notes as I go, put it all in the recipe builder and then save it. You can also import recipes from a website if you are trying something new rather than using a personal or family recipe. I do most of my meal prep on the weekends for the whole week, and I put in all my…

@wellthenwhat Fried apples and onions? Is that a dish by itself or a salad topping? I'm confused, and somewhat intrigued.

@nickiphillips1 You are inspiring me to get out and try swimming again. I used to be a really good swimmer but now I can't remember how to do any of the strokes. This weekend I am going to find a pool and go try a few laps. And try to find an adult swimming lesson.

@jessiquoi Better than you did 10 minutes and had to call it a day than do nothing. Next time you can try for 15 minutes. You can do it! Also, re: passover treats... I hear ya! Mini Eggs are my personal kryptonite and they are EVERYWHERE this time of year. Can you freeze the items she brought? Maybe if you packed them…

Type the @ symbol and then start typing the person's name, after a few characters you'll get a popup with other names and you can tap/click on the one you want.

Got home a little early so I made big salads for dinner and cut up all the veggies to top the mini pizzas for dinner. Now when my haircut is done I can slap dinner together in minutes and get a nice walk in before the sun goes down. Then down to the basement for my ridiculous number of crunches! o:)

@amymoreorless Guess your husband knows that your toddler needed a snack and a timeout!

Maybe your counsellor or doctor could recommend a dietitian? (assuming you have some type of insurance plan that might help to cover the costs) You've had success dealing with other issues in counselling, so finding a professional who can help you figure out how to solve your food challenges and teach you about…

Actually, I should add Brussels sprouts to the list. I hate them boiled but can't get enough of them roasted. I make a really tasty soup by roasting Onions, tomatoes, Garlic and any other veg I have in the house (squash, carrots, potatoes, broccoli, sprouts, parsnips, zucchini, whatever!). I put the roasted onions,…

Also, don't compare yourself to your husband. His progress will be different from yours. Any two people following the exact same plan can have different results, but in particular, men and women will lose differently. My husband has always been a slender guy (former dancer) and his weight is just a little bit of extra from…

Roasted cauliflower or broccoli are delicious. I had only ever had them raw (which I don't like) or steamed/boiled/stirfried, which are fine. But roasting them made so much difference!

One of the reasons I've failed at weight loss in the past was that I tried to cut out baking until I couldn't stand it anymore and then I would bust out and bake cookies and eat the whole batch and then lose all will to continue with my healthy life changes. This time around I'm doing a lot of the sensible things listed…

Heat and gentle stretching if you can tolerate it. I also like a nice hot shower and some ibuprofen (or other anti-inflammatory) before bed if I've overdone it. I find that helps me to relax more while I'm sleeping and I get better sleep, which speeds healing. As ronocnikral said, prevention is best (but that doesn't help…

@wellthenwhat You needed your sleep so you did one good thing for yourself already today. Yard work will be another good thing you can do for yourself because you will have the fresh air and the exercise and the satisfaction of a job well done. You can put yourself first for the rest of the day. You are worth it!

I've been trying to get in the habit of adding all my recipes for the week on Sundays when I have a bit of downtime. And I've started to skip ingredients like spices because if it adds 5 calories overall to something that will make 4 servings? I don't have that kind of time. (To clarify, I still use them when I'm cooking,…

@jessiquoi I recently updated my profile pic to an older one of me with a haircut I like to remind me to show it to my stylist tonight. But I'll post before and after pics!

Congratulations on seeing all your hard work pay off! My favourite part of this post is that you used Boba Fett as your point of reference for size comparison. B)

I have to keep this in mind. Sometimes I get so fixated that it's all I can talk about. I have at least one friend who has offered me a cookie just to make me stop talking.
