For me, it's not so much the sugar as the ramp-up in social drinking. Alcohol is terrible on muscle growth and recovery. I think the plan will be to limit it to 1-2 per event. Maybe that and eating more slowly.

Count me in as well! College student, motivated, nonjudgmental. It really helps to have others to share in the journey!

A little worried about this Sunday because I've had to skip a couple of regular rides this week due to my homework load (I refuse to fall behind this term). Luckily, I now have the short commute from our house to the university, so I'm at least getting a 20-25 minute ride in every weekday. It's just not as much as I need,…

Rest day, thank goodness. My legs and glutes feel alternately like spaghetti noodles and hot sauce. Sometimes both. Scheduled a massage for after Saturday's long ride.

Welcome @ruperthumphrey! Congrats for 'adopting' a bike. It needed a good home :) Today, 24 miles + 19 min. warmup, 10 min. cooldown, 30 min. easy ride with a friend.

Just finished my 15-miler outside due to @shangates92 graciously accepting the terrible storms in time for an evening jaunt. >:) Power's out just a few blocks from my house, and limbs/mud washouts EVERYWHERE. My steed needs a bath in the morning.
-
Funny thing...our storms rolled away early. Did you all volunteer to take them from us?

Hi fellow short person! I'm also 5'3" and trying to go from 156-125 in different phases. Active every day on MFP with an open diary and also fitness-wise. Feel free to add me.

Ha! Terrible error on my part. Apologies. In any case, it will take me long enough to save for whichever purchase comes next that I can educate myself fully on its company history. :)

Hi there! I'm Monica from Eastern Nebraska. We're not blessed with mountains by any means, but the rollers and wind speeds put together will trick lots of folks into thinking there are some. I reset my odometer in the spring so as of late April or early May it reads 694 (not including trainer time). This is my first year…

56.3 terrible, terrible miles. Bike racks rule. For some reason, I automatically like drivers of cars with one mounted. :)

SW: 152.2 CW: 148.6 Month Goal: 148.2 Overall Goal: 125 I hit my August goal yesterday at 147 and change...the scale was stubborn at first but it seems to be going well now! I am thinking about lowering my monthly goal by a couple pounds. It feels great

15 miles at century pace, fighting the wind on my way back :(

Didn't even see this post for some reason (and mine is right under yours, haha). Don't get addicted to cycling like I did! My wallet is much lighter than it used to be since I caught the bug. I think the ones who are in love with the sport have to be a little crazy, because there's so much suffering involved. >:) Glad…

Gotcha. Thanks for the info smeak and kcj. Once I complete my first century at the end of this month, I'll take a couple of recovery weeks in September and transition into base training. The weather here is atrocious during the winter with a ridiculous wind chill factor to boot so (unfortunately) I'll get plenty of trainer…

Sweet. I looked up Trainer Road and unfortunately don't have any ANT+ equipment or a power meter just yet. It looks like I may take a week or two off or go super easy after my first 100-miler at the end of this month. September sounded kind of early at first but this is relatively new to me.

Now that is an NSV! Even in the face of temptation you made the choice to toss. Mine is slowly being more comfortable in aggressive positions on my saddle. Not sure how many inches I'm losing, but it feels like my little gut is shrinking day by day.
-
Wow, that's a beautiful sight! Thanks for showing the pics.

One of my favorite things about cycling is that everyone in our family is old enough to do it, so it's a wholesome activity. We've got some pretty decent trails close by the house as well.

Went on my first multiday camping/'broken century' this weekend. ~250 riders, 70.3 miles Saturday, 43.4 miles Sunday, and an easy 20-minute spin on my trainer for recovery yesterday. 15 miles for today, and gearing up for my first true 100-mile event in 3 weeks. Cycling rocks :) The other nice thing is, my fiancee is also…
-
21+ miles yesterday, easy road spin today and tomorrow for recovery.
-
@mommyknits That's great! What type of bike are you excited about?
-
50 minute pace ride on the road. Was supposed to be longer, but the lightning came in.

My other half is a nurse and I have a close friend who was a liaison for a specialty facility. Also, some friends and family are hospital or clinic staff. :) They talked about bringing/getting treats for the nurses, doctors, and support staff. It's common here to have someone go out to a general hospital and try to…
-
Thanks shan. It starts 1 mile at a time! No quitting, you got this! :) 14 mile easy spin on the road finishing with some rolling hills.
-
Howdy. Took an unplanned rest day, probably because I overreached in training on a really hot day. Lethargic and cranky, but crappy pizza helped a bit. Was within my calories, too!
-
My formerly too-snug dress pants fit very nicely this morning!
-
That sounds great. I caught the cycling bug some months ago, and worked my way up to 48 miles yesterday. My knees are also sub-par (I am rehabilitating from a backpacking injury), so for now I'm stuck with cycling and swimming as well. For this month: doing my first 'broken' century this coming weekend, and the Heatstroke…

Current weight: 152.2 lbs Overall goal: 125 lbs August goal: 148.2 lbs For this month, I want to keep up the good habits developed thus far when school starts again! This includes keeping up my hydration levels, training days, and MFP logging.

Count me in as well...I could use a push!
