  • I have lost 20 pounds so far, but not as fast as I wanted. With PCOS, I am happy with any loss. Like JanetYellen said, get a scale. It is important to weigh your food. Measuring instruments differ and are so off. Personally, I do not do anything like low carb. I do not think it is reasonable to my life in the long run, so…
  • Great progress. Have you re-evaluated your calorie goals?

  • Do yourself a favor. Measure your successes another way than just with a scale. I have been at this since February. I am at a plateau. I am weighing my food. I am exercising. And what I do is once a month, I measure myself. I haven't lost anything in the last two weeks or so in weight. I measured and I lost 4 inches. It…
  • The level of exercise and diet they push them through for "extreme" weight loss is unsustainable and unrealistic for normal life. The fact that the majority of those who were on the show gained the weight back shows just how unrealistic and unhealthy that type of action is. I thought about getting surgery or another quick…
  • Good ideas. Thank you all  Sometimes it is a lot of work, but having something to eat already made makes the choices that much easier.
  • This website has some contestants who have maintained their weight loss (roughly). I used to watch it, and I will readily admit that it set up a certain mental expectation to lose weight quickly. Thankfully, I am choosing to do it the right way. Slowly. And a way I can sustain after the loss. I cannot imagine how these…
  • I have purchased jeans in various sizes. I am just beginning, but jeans are the ONE thing I have missed being heavier. I worked hard to get in the first pair. I am working hard to get into the second pair. That has been my motivation so far. Well, one of them.
  • I could tell in my face pretty fast. With my bestie, I could tell he lost weight after about 8 pounds or so. He looked slimmer in his chest and stomach. Me...I have a lot to lose, so the changes are not as physical right now. I have lost 12 inches total with 12 pounds. Pretty stoked about that. I am starting to have to…
  • I absolutely LOVE the little house with the vines on top of it. If I was a child....lol.
  • "Put the fork down and you will lose weight." I hate that comment. It completely disregards so much that may be influencing weight issues. "Cut out all carbs and sugar." This is not feasible!
  • Google the Whoosh. I just had my first experience with this. Basically, the fat cells fill with water when you are losing. Randomly, they "whoosh" and you lose weight on the scale quickly. I went down 4.6 pounds in three days after about 5 days of staying the same weight. It hasn't come back.
  • I understand what you are going through. I went the last five days dealing with maintenance as I dealt with PTSD symptoms. I am struggling today with energy. I forced myself to do 20 minutes on the bike, which I accomplished...but I feel completely wore out. Before, I was MUCH more active before getting wore out.
  • Oh my! I love gardening! I started 2 years ago with a container garden on my porch. My best friend and my husband called it the Jungle. I had corn growing even. LOL! Yes, corn grows in containers. I currently have potatoes, asparagus, peas, and onions planted. I also have two grape vines and a blueberry bush that are in…
  • You can do this! I know that sometimes it is a struggle, but you are working on a better you. Ask yourself why you are doing this. Ask yourself if you want to continue. Ask yourself if that extra food is going to help you with your goals. Some days...you may eat a little more. And that's fine. You just have to realize it…
  • For me, it depends on the day. If I am hungry and I have exercise calories, I use them. I try to stay under 50% though. Most days, I do not use them and stick to my calorie limit prior to exercise calories.
  • Shrimp are a great source of protein and lower in calories than some meats. Sometimes I eat them with cocktail sauce or in shrimp alfredo.

  • Every single thing you do including breath is considered a calorie burner. I am not sure why there is so much hatred for activities that are not deemed "proper" exercise. If you want to burn calories having sex, do so!
  • While I haven't experienced this, I would suggest focusing on you and realizing that your journey is the most important thing to continue. Find activities that make you happy. Find a healthy cooking course. Reinvest in yourself. I happen to be in a marriage and for the first time investing in myself. It is making me…
  • I understand what you are going through. I am an emotional eater and a binge eater. I find that I have to replace food with something else - gardening, exercise, activity number 22 - to break the habit. When I felt myself starting to get tense or emotional, I would go, with my MP3 player on a music that suited my mood, and…
  • Vanity does play a role in it, but I would like to have a child. I would also like to do things without being in pain like take a soaking bath, travel, and just live life outside of my home without discomfort.
  • Potatoes are great. What I have been doing is pairing them with sweet potatoes. I always leave the skin on, and I do not eat them with toppings. It is a natural food. Moderation is the key.

  • Grats! Good luck with your surgery.
  • I also have issues with this sometimes. On days when I am super active with exercise and life, I cannot make up for the calories I "earn" with exercise. There for a while, I couldn't even make it to my limit. I found that adding a lot of healthy foods means that you have to eat a lot more to get to your calorie limit. I…
  • Oh that is a pretty space. I would love that. I am just starting. We rent, so it can't be too permanent. What did you use on top? Deer netting?
  • What zone do you live in @larrodarro? I live in Zone 7. Our average last frost free day is May 15. I got some seedlings going though. 6 peach trees and 4 apple trees. 4 coffee trees (inside except for summer). Asparagus. And trying to germinate some strawberry seeds. They still haven't come up. I spent some time outside…
  • Great job! I have been pushing myself too. After 30 days, pushing has become positive instead of negative. Good luck on the rest of your journey!
  • There is tons of change! Good job and good luck!
  • If you are kicking things you enjoy out of your diet, the reaction is going to want it more. So perhaps you should schedule a small portion of what you are wanting as a snack, and eat it during the evening. That way you can feel like you are still enjoying your junk food and it is right at the time you have been wanting it.
  • Yep! These. They are my kryptonite.
