I'm 130 and a size 10. Been a size 10 since I started, at just over 143 pounds. Judging by how my 10s fit it'll be at *least* another 5 pounds before I can drop a size. At least. And that's being optimistic. So it's not 10 pounds a size for everyone!

Other calculators use the TDEE method, which includes regular activity plus exercise. MFP does not use the TDEE method. Hence the difference.
-
Add non-step exercises but do not add your runs, OP. Your step counter will handle runs.

I'm 5'2 (and a half!) and I've weighed anywhere from 115 to 145 in my adult life (well, when not pregnant!). The BMI range for our height is a 30 pound range, up to about 135. I don't see how that's unrealistic.

Just 2 weeks? Don't worry then! Just keep going. :)

Basically, yes. You told it your stats - weight, height, activity level. It told you how much you can eat based on that. So it's fine for now just to log and follow its calorie target. But, if you're constantly on your feet make sure that you set your activity level in MFP to "lightly active." Not sedentary. MFP gives you…

You do need to burn more than your intake. But that doesn't mean you have to burn over 1200 in exercise. Your body burns calories to keep itself alive- it just happens naturally throughout the day. You can add exercise but don't have to. Your 1200 number is likely less than what your body burns naturally throughout the…

Do not pay any attention to the calories in your fitbit app. Use fitbit to log your (non-step) exercise. Come look at this app, MFP, to get your calories to eat. MFP will add in the calories you earn from your fitbit. So, yesterday, MFP said you could eat 1700 calories, plus it looked at your activity from fitbit and said…

So I have a thing for nachos loaded with cheese. I get that using portion control I could still fit it in to my day, but my will power when faced with cheesy nachos sucks. So I just don't make them. I find it easier with this particular food to never have it than to have just a little of it. There are plenty of treats I…

People who have never had to flip their schedules throughout the week maybe don't understand why it is so tough. It is physically incredibly challenging and for many I can absolutely see how it leads to chappy eating, and the exhaustion from asking g your body to change its rhythms every other day makes exercise seem…

I have a glass of wine every night after dinner. I make sure to leave calories for it and log it. Hasn't slowed my weight loss. As long as it fits in your calories it's fine.

The timing of the TOM weight gain varies for every woman it seems (as does the amount of the gain, or if there even is a gain at all). I don't get PMS. I have symptoms the week of my actual period. That's when the scale goes up too. Not before. And it goes right back down at the end of the week. You just have to wait and…

Cucumbers are great to use if you're worried about how many fruits and veggies you have to use for a full cup. They produce a lot. My favorite is strawberries, cucumber, apple, carrots. Http://mobile.eatingwell.com/recipes/strawberry_cucumber_juice.html

Lightly active! Working in a restaurant is no joke. You need fuel for that. Sedentary wouldn't give you the calories you need to be working the way you work.
-
Ditto on lightly active. I also stay home with the kids. I have a Jawbone fitness tracker and every day I tend to get just a couple hundred extra calories because of my activity, so I've found lightly active to be a good one to use to describe chasing after young ones.

I'm 5'2 (& a half, sometimes I round up). Sw 143, cw 131. Aiming for 125. Trying to lose the weight I've kept on after each of the last 3 babies!

I made a chocolate chip pie the other day. Had some for dessert last night. Yum! It fit in my daily calorie allowance. And was so worth it. What you eat matters for overall health. But it doesn't matter for weight loss specificially. Only thing that matters for weight loss is eating at a calorie deficit.
-
You say you have hardly eaten at all.... make sure you are eating at least close to what MFP says you should eat. There is a calorie deficit built in to that number so you'll lose weight eating all your calories. Eating less is likely to leave you without the nutrition you need and isn't sustainable - you're more likely to…

Just been at this for a month and a half so had only one TOM in that time. I gained 1.5 pounds. It disappeared all at once, along with a half pound more of real weight, after a week.

Late night eating being a problem is a myth. http://www.bidmc.org/YourHealth/TherapeuticCenters/WeightManagement.aspx?ChunkID=156995

2 ounces of cheddar cheese with mini stoned wheat crackers. Air-popped popcorn. Kashi granola bar (I like the cherry and dark chocolate one). Strawberries with cool whip for something sweet and dessert-like.

She's only 6 weeks out. Milk supply won't be completely established yet.

I do not think it is safe to advise a stranger that she "definitely can safely" eat at a caloric deficit while just starting out nursing. Great that it worked for you, nicediva007, but that's not the norm and not what most OB/Gynecology advise to new nursing mothers. At the very, very least she should first talk to her OB…

Then while you are breastfeeding you really can't cut back on calories. If you do, you risk being malnourished and drying up your milk supply. You should still be eating 300 or so extra calories a day. Please do not try to cut back on what you eat. But trust me - mom of 5 here - tons of the weight will come off on its own…
-
Are you nursing? If so please be careful, because you should not eat in a calorie deficit while breastfeeding and in fact still need a few hundred above maintenance to supply your milk (& breastfeeding really helps the extra weight come off anyway, even with the extra calories!). If you're formula feeding, then go ahead…

I have a Jawbone Up2. Love it. Syncs to MFP. I didn't spring for the model with a heart rate monitor (reading up on it, just didn't feel was necessary for me). It's really helped me understand my activity level - turns out I was more active than I'd given myself credit for, which helped me figure out my calorie goals and…

NAS, the search function in MFP brings back plenty of inaccurate entries for food. You may be trying to be accurate but looking at your log, I can see that it isnt. You're eating more calories than you realize. Read the sticky posted in this thread and you'll learn how to be better at finding the right calories for the…

Are you asking for permission, basically, to skip workouts? Because you can. You don't need to work out to lose weight, and you don't need a formal workout routine to be physically active. If you've had a crazy busy day, rest.

She hasn't been weighing her food. She meassured using cups. So, that's one way she could be dedicated but but inadvertently going wrong. Another way is that she used a random pharmacy scale. Seems you didn't really read the OP, because your scolding of her is off base.

I did it at first. I'm short and wasn't too overweight to begin with, so MFP gave me 1200. It was fine. I wasn't hungry at first. I'd never eaten a lot anyway- it's just that pre-MFP, what I did eat was junky high calorie stuff (Starbucks frappuccino every day... what was I thinking?). Once I started getting more active,…
