How many calories a day does the program suggest? What are the limits on carbs, fat, and protein?
-
If you do as above, but cook it a bit past the golden brown point (ideally in a cast-iron pan), you get blackened tofu, which is fantastic in fajitas.

That's.... similar to what happens when you eat at a caloric deficit, yes? Maybe not with the ketones, but the body uses its stored fat reserves to make up for the deficit, right? That's exciting!
-
Added: Just looked at your food diary; nevermind re: the VLCD; it's not. It really doesn't look like it's really low carb, fat, or protein, either, to be honest. How many calories a day were you eating before this? Is it just the deficit that's too sharp for you?

I'm definitely not familiar with the plan (I'm in the US, not the UK); having said that, you said the plan is low carb, low fat, and low protein. How is that? That's all three macronutrients; the plan has to tilt in favor of one of the three. Is this a medically-supervised VLCD? Have you been tracking what you're eating?…

I like you.

Detox is not synonymous with a process or period of abstaining. "Detox" is short from detoxification, which is the removal of a poisonous substance from the body. You don't remove a poisonous substance from the body only to go right back and consume more of it. It's either poisonous, or it's not. We do not all have "these…

Eat at a calorie deficit. There is no kick-starting things. You may lose more water weight with low-carb initially, but it will come back on, and you probably want to lose fat, not water. There's no magic in either way of eating.
-
Guessing you set it to lose 2 lbs a week; that's the type of calorie deficit you'd need to have to lose at that rate. If you don't feel satisfied on 1200 calories, re-configure your settings to lose 1 lb a week. If you're breastfeeding you should add 500 calories to your minimum.
-
No. Are you weighing and measuring everything in grams? When was the last time you adjusted your daily calorie target?
-
But... Doesn't that have calories, as well?
-
I'll have two slices per meal, but not the entire thing at once. Moderation, and all that.

Mom needs calories. The nutrient content of breast milk stays fairly stable even when a mother's diet changes.

This. If I want to eat something, I figure out how to fit it into my calories for the day.
-
I disagree. It's really easy to get into a habit of lying to yourself, and this is how it starts. Be honest with yourself, log it, and keep going.
-
Me. You can't do this for anyone else. Nor do I want to be someone else's motivation.

What is the alternative?
-
What happens when you stop taking it? If you're still eating food, I'd day it hasn't treated your addiction very successfully.

I even bolded the part where you said you thought "we were here to help and support each other.... You posted a common misperception (" eating bad" makes you fat). Science can help answer the question in the OP, which directly relates to the "eating bad" issue: glucose is glucose; fructose is fructose; your body does not…

I would think that losing a large amount of weight relatively slowly is preferable to losing and regaining the same 50lbs or so repeatedly.
-
Re. the bolded portiins:Those of us who have been around a while do not offer blind support to false statements. For example, "eating bad" does not make you (or anyone else) fat. Eating above the calories a person needs to maintain their weigh will lead to weight gain. It is entirely possible to gain weight eating a…

Eat more fats, and back off in the carbs proportionally to the increase in fat. There is nothing wrong with carbs however additional fat might help keep you feeling more full.
-
Please provide evidence to support the bolded statement. Peer-reviewed studies are preferred; if you post a link to a bro-science type blog, expect it to get.... critiqued.

Weigh everything. Unless it's a liquid. Measure liquids. Track things by calories per gram. See how that works for a month or so.

It may be assumed in science, but given some of the posts we see on this board, I do not believe it is a safe assumption here.

The premise of the plan - that people can be " sugar addicts" - is false.

What is it about sugar cane that is toxic?
