I never said it was easy. It's definitely learned. But it's also something that a lot of people don't consider - that they can have ice cream, or Chinese food, or sour patch kids, and they can still lose weight.
-
Why put it in scare quotes? This.
-
I just don't see that as sabotage. Why not just either fit those into your calories for the day or say no thanks?
-
Break what addiction?

Define "sabotage", though. For example, when I was working on losing weight but my husband was not, he would bring home ice cream every once in a while and have some after the kids went to bed. Even though I wasn't eating ice cream at the time, I don't consider this sabotage. Had he somehow force-fed me ice cream, I would…

That's about when I noticed it on me, was going from the 250's to the 200's or so. Keep in mind that your friends may notice it but not say anything, so don't let it get you down if they don't comment on your weight loss.

So how do you know the skinny people are eating the processed foods (which you admitted do not exist in abundance where you live) and the overweight people are not? How do you know that the skinny people "do not look good" because of eating processed foods specifically, but rather look that way because they are…

Truth. On that note, going to see if I have enough change to get a Diet Coke out of the soda machine.

Please point out the mean comments. Additionally, exercise is not required for weight loss. OP, feel free to add me for facts and science.

Eh, I quit smoking a year before my husband did. He cut back drastically when I quit, and eventually quit on his own a year later, but I never once asked him to not smoke around me, not leave cigarettes out, etc. I did not ask him to modify his behavior because of my decision.

I eat more chocolate.

That's a lot of vague terminology (no offense meant), and that may be your problem. Try weighing everything - grains, meats, cheeses, etc. Solid food gets weighed, liquids (milk, olive oil) get measured.
-
Eat more fiber. Drink more water. Wait.

Who are you cheating on? I eat what I want to. I'm more mindful of portions, and I budget my calories so that what I want to eat fits into my day. I had burgers and fries last night, Domino's pizza the night before, I'll have a few beers tonight, etc. My other meals are lighter in calories (and a heck of a lot more…

How much weight do you have to lose? Starting weight? Current weight? Goal weight? How tall are you?
-
You said shutdown, not slowdown, and I'm reasonably certain the only time the metabolism shuts down is when someone dies.

If you're eating more calories than you need to maintain, you will gain weight, no matter what you're eating. You could, in theory, gain weight eating nothing but celery, if you ate more calories in celery than you needed to maintain. You're not going to gain weight by eating more protein (or anything else) unless you're…

We're asking for peer-reviewed research, not "internet articles".

I work at a University that boasts, among other programs, a med school. Post the details of the article - author's name, journal, year of publication; all that is perfectly legal to post without infringing copyright. If for some reason that journal is not one of the thousands the University pays for, one of the research…

Weight loss is about calories, not macronutrients (macros). People differ in terms of those percentages and what works well to keep them satisfied. I have been gravitating lately to 50%-ish fat, 30%-ish carb, 20%-ish protein, but that varies greatly based on the day (I also do not consider myself low carb, at least not…

What would your mindset be like if you told yourself every day that you could, in fact, have chocolate? Fit it into your calories, enjoy it, and enjoy it knowing that you can have some more again tomorrow if you want some. Rather than thinking you cannot have sweets, try thinking I can have some more tomorrow!!You may…

Please provide peer-reviewed citations to support this claim.

Cheeseburgers.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Don't suppose you have a link to one of the videos showing the difference in calories between weighing and measuring?

I'll play. I work in statistics. I consult on projects whose topics are in the fields of Education, Nursing, Hospitality, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Criminology, among others. I am currently working on a project funded by an NSF grant; that research will be presented at the annual conference in Washington DC…

Apologies if my tone came across as harsh. That said, the problem with the "this is what worked for me" answers is that it invites stuff with no scientific merit (i.e., "fat burners", claims about the miraculous nature of ACV, etc.). I do have a knee-jeek reaction to ask for peer-reviewed studies, but the hope is that…

I must have the abridged version...
