Search on the internet or call around to some of the yoga studios in town. Most studios have at least one donation based class per week. You can put whatever you have to contribute in a basket (seriously $1 is fine) and it goes to a charity. Many studios also offer scholarships or work for class credits. Yogis are often…

This will be my third half, so I'm trying a more aggressive training schedule this time around. I'm using Hal Higdon's intermediate plan as a model, but I'm adding two more weeks to allow for a little holiday wiggle room and I'm increasing the length of some of the runs to up the weekly mileage. This plan has me running…

My race on Sunday went really well! Final time for the 10K was 57:24, which is a PR of over two minutes. Yay! Great way to end fall racing season. My hips and quads were so sore afterwards, but it was worth it. I'm in for 80 again for November. This is a gap month for me, as half marathon training doesn't start until…

Have a great race!!

I focused on everyday lifestyle changes for the first six months or so (walking for transportation when possible, cooking healthy meals at home, decreasing alcohol). I started running three times per week after that, and then slowly started experimenting with strength training (yoga, TRX, and free weights). This was just…

This is 100% spot on. Brisk walking is great exercise. I started walking 2.5 miles to and from work this summer and I was shocked to find that I was sore! And I had been running for years. Walking is great.

@juliet3455 Once you've run with 30,000, everything else feels small ;) Thanks for the love everyone. @5BeautifulDays Congratulations to my fellow MCM 10K runner! So exciting to hit a PR, amazing! I missed my time goal, unfortunately. I decided to wait in the bathroom line before the start, so by the time I lined up I was so far back. I lost a lot of time in my first two miles trying to find some room and dodging around…

Gloves! Dealing with cold hands is the worst part. Its not uncommon for me to run in short sleeves and gloves. I'm sure it looks stupid, but it works for me.

@Elise4270 I exclusively wear Moving Comfort. The Maia is THE BEST for larger cup sizes, but they have a bunch of varieties that are all great.

I like M&Ms for my chocolate fix. I can savor a bag for like an hour while watching a movie. Its a great treat, really satisfying, and honestly not a terrible calorie hit. It feels more indulgent than it is. The crispy ones are like 170 and the regular are 250 or something? If I run, its pretty easy to fit in.

I'm a morning runner, so for anything under 10 miles, I just eat a banana and call it good. For longer runs, I like to add in nut butters and bread or homemade Lara bars. There are tons of recipes online, you can customize them to your liking. Dates, cashews, coconut oil, dried fruit, etc. You can even throw in some…

In for 80 this month! 10.1: 6 miles

I'm still probably realistically about a year out from trying, but I'm impatient too! If I was in your situation, I would lose 10% of your current bodyweight, say 20 lbs, then go for it! You will see measurable health benefits after 10% but it won't take you as long as your goal weight.

@Tblackdogs I wish I would have learned the lesson about secrets earlier. It really doesn't serve us to have secret shame about food. I'm working on that  @janiep81 Thank you for the OA recommendation. I will check that out. @Devol82 I appreciate your words of support! It is honestly really meaningful to me to read…

Ah sorry for the false hope! The Oreos were in the standard packaging. The bag I was dipping into was just the tote bag I was carrying them in. And mini Oreos and milk sounds fantastic!
