  • Volume-wise, sauerkraut, cabbage, & any thick/tough meat...flavor enhanced with fat of choice of course
  • Platar fasciitis bands (insoles) are pretty helpful & durable (pain mostly from standing on feet all day 15+hours/week). I use Futuro brand bands; they come with different hardness insoles for more or less support as you get use to wearing them. I have not used the night time socks/cast; the MFR website has somewhat mixed…
  • <---Recovering peanut butter & almond/cashew/brazil/macadamia nut addict...I actually starting having facial swelling & slight dyspnea (mostly on exertion) from eating a variety of "tree nuts" (can not pinpoint exactly which). Although the quantity I ate was large (probably an intolerance, not a true allergy), I just avoid…
  • I second this
  • I believe it's automatically accounted for by the usual rise in heart rate. I easily go from 60->80+ bpm from sitting/laying to standing/pacing. I spend about 15 hours/day standing on work days...it balances out for the fewer amount of time spent doing cardio/treadmill on work days.
  • Feel free to add: http://www.fitbit.com/user/46BLGK Averaging around 10k steps/day, but might only be around 5-7,500 next week (odd work schedule). Rivals welcome
  • Mio energy Coffee flavor...I had been dreaming for this for some time alas it was a nightmare reading the label to discover this genius of an idea is tainted with Fructose & 4g carbohydrate/serving. On the other hand, Mio vitamin with stevia as a sweetener...not bad at all, they just need to reformulate the Mio energy…
  • Like dragonwolf said, eating more towards the bottom of the food chain (small fish or those with least Hg2+ accumulation; shrimp, crab, sardines, salmon...rarely chunk tuna, no albacore despite having the best taste/texture). Organic only if it is on the "dirty dozen" (kale). Fit goat = modern day T-Rex
  • Like most supplements, hype...Carrington farms coconut oil costs about $8/bottle & easily lasts > 1 week. Same liquid state and has a breakdown of caprylic and Laurie acid content on the label. "Bullet proof" is just a fancy, expensive marketing hype...(I am sure going to get plenty of hate for this).
  • 10 days of change won't impact LDL or HDL; these are better long term bio markers of cholesterol (transport). Triglycerides on the other hand are more sensitive to transient short term changes...i.e. Eating before a lipid panel will spike triglycerides in contrast to having negligible effects on LDL & HDL. Fish oil is only…
  • Meds that can help include Metformin (partitions hepatic glucose towards periphery, i.e. muscles) & Thiazolidenediones (Pioglitazone & Rosaglitazone: alter gene expression via peroxisome proliferator activating receptor agonism & shift visceral (in your case liver) adipose to subcutaneous adipose (healthier under the skin…
  • Does anyone else think Dawn is the most ripped among the trainers? Her back & shoulder striations look like shards of glass! The finale was pretty good, I think it could have gone either way, but self motivation without having trainer guidance seemed to play a huge role Yes, Taj has a huge ego...possibly had a complex of…
  • montelukast is about 50% efficacious for Exercise Induced Bronchospasm (EIB). You might want to use your Albuterol (VENTOLIN) 15min before exercise before adding on montelukast...if you haven't done so already. Using albuterol for EIB does not count as a rescue dose & should not count against you for being non-controlled…
  • Yes, a true scientist & hero for doing so on himself!
  • Fit-goat, I have nothing against the carnivore lifestyle...somedays I am 100% carnivore. Out of curiosity, how do you deal with the overall lack of food volume? This issue is what seems most problematic with the carnivore lifestyle as far as satisfaction & overall cost...& lack of bulking agent (stools, although like you…
  • Actually not as bad of a show as I was expecting. The "task-erciser" was doomed from the start & was just entertaining for the sheer lack of focus on anything with the inevitable failure. Taj seems to be the most interesting/complex character on the show. Like most everyone here, I'm looking for Abel to be victorious but I…
  • My diet in a nutshell...sorry for being too lazy to actually combine these, but its pretty obvious I just emulsify with avocado, EVOO, MCTs & spice with salt & oregano. Dry heat for Kale until a nice brown, low-medium stovetop panfry for fish until slight brown...love those delicious carcinogen polyheterocyclic amines
  • My drink of choice back in the day...have been abstinent over 3 years now though mainly because of the detrimental effects of alcohol (in general) on sleep (in the long run).
  • Thanks for sharing! Got to try this as keto-desserts are really hard to win over with non-low carb people. I somehow always mess up keto desserts when rarely attempted due to the improper use of sweetener &/or binding materials.
  • I-caps (MVI + Zeaxanthin + Lutein), Omega 3-FAs, Biotin, & Melatonin (as needed, more so in the summer). Currently experimenting with Ubiquinol Might throw Beta Alanine back in if I can muster up the courage to gain tolerance to the transient paresthesias
  • Former vegan (pescatarian now), yes, this is a very difficult issue that will resort to using supplement protein powders or un-stomachable amounts of tofu etc. Even more difficult if you can't consume dairy or eggs. My go-to were legumes/nuts in the form of peanut butter, almond butter/almonds, etc...these can all cause GI…
  • Have yet to try BPC because of time of day (caffeine) & being a purest in being in a fasted state. I just don't have enough kcals to spare into liquids. If it works, it works
  • I'm roughly the same age...in the same situation. The 1 drawback is the general public thinking you are immature, unexperienced, etc. Good job on the transformation though! I just can't wait until 50yo or so when people will really notice
  • Nah, if it was a topical anesthetic it's not propofol
  • Sounds like it would be more interesting if they didn't muddle the whole concept of the show with ridiculous amounts of exercise & torture. There are definitely some BBC documentaries on youtube showing cause and effect of forcing particular diets on people (IF, Atkins, etc.).
  • "White stuff" was probably propofol...in the form of an emulsion. AKA Michael Jackson's anesthetic of choice
  • Studies on diets are never very credible since they are all observation or cohort studies. Just think about it; how the hell can anyone perform a randomized clinical trial of a diet? Also, what would be the comparison arm or standard? Exclusion criteria, primary end Points? Take these diet studies with a grain of salt (pun…
  • Anesthetics primary elimination is via distribution (Hoffman elimination)...i.e. respiration. Being in ketosis could have altered respiratory rate as well as anion gap (Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors are drug class of choice to treat altitude sickness...like ketosis, Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors cause metabolic acidosis;…
  • 2 of my favorite ways (heated preparations with cold additions): 1) +avocado, salsa, & EVOO; 2) +Balsamic vinaigrette & Coconut manna
  • These 2 are my staple hamstring exercises...I just hate machine leg curls (my gym has oddly designed machines that don't allow a good contraction). For SLDLs, using a deficit (standing on a board) is helpful if you have long limbs and are tall.
