It works for me! I've often lost more than the .5 pound goal, but I'm guessing that will slow down soon.

I moved from the USA and gained weight.

I have a problem with getting hungry at night as well. My s/o gets home from work at around 1am and usually eats something then. It can be pretty hard for me to stop myself from eating too!

No idea. I can hardly get full on 1600

The egg white delite for breakfast at McDonald's isn't bad

The reason calorie counting works for me: I can eat what I want! I try to be sensible about it so that I'm not too hungry, but that's about it. Good luck to you :)

My current goal weight is a weight I got down to about 2 years ago and was happy with. I had a very active job at that time, so I'm not sure if it is a practical weight to maintain for the long haul, but I'll worry about that when I get closer to that number.

When I attempted calorie counting before, I had a whole cheat day where I didn't count. It was a big mistake. One of the best things I've learned reading these forums is to log everything, even if it's a "cheat" day or meal. I've been holding myself to that, and it really helps. If I'm going to splurge on something, I save…

I got down to my goal weight once before while I was working a very active job and also doing fairly intense workouts in the gym. I wasn't paying much attention to what I ate; it wasn't awful, but I did eat fast food fairly often. I then moved and switched to a sedentary job, and continued not paying attention to what I…

After reading the suggestion on here, I recently got the Happy Scale app and began weighing every day. I thought it would drive me a little nuts to weigh daily, but I think it's going to do a better job at keeping me on track with my daily decisions food-wise. I'm less likely to take a cheat day, which was a big problem of…

Too funny :)

I can't believe how awful people can be! So sorry to hear you've been through those experiences. Congrats on the weight loss!

Lol, same here. Somehow I found it to be pretty entertaining

A couple times that I started calorie counting before, I got frustrated with being so hungry and would take a "break." But, that turned into me just stopping altogether. This time, I just can't let myself do that!

I didn't really notice whether or not the trainers at my gym were overweight or not, but I do remember seeing trainers let their clients slack off. It was at LA Fitness and I was considering getting a personal trainer, and I just felt that the trainers weren't what I was looking for, especially for the money. I need…

Planning to buy new workout pants when I reach a 10 pound loss. :)

This place!! I've been browsing quite a bit, and find so many people here to be inspiring.

Thank you for this great advice! Just wondering, is there a spot on MFP to view your weekly calories, or is that something you track on your own?

Do you think you will need to buy a new dress, or it will be able to be altered? I'm curious, because I'm hoping to be in the same situation, but I don't want to be buying a new dress :) Oh, and congrats on the wedding, and the weight loss!

I can't imagine eating 900 and not being hungry. I'm eating 1600/day right now and I often get pretty hungry! I'm hoping that will get better with time; I've only been consistent with this for about 2 weeks now

I kind of am. My wedding is next year and I certainly want to look great for it, but that's not the only reason I'm trying to lose weight. :)

I feel your pain! I had the same problem at my previous job. People were always bringing baked goods, there were treats for birthdays, and (unhealthy) breakfast was often brought it for the office. It was very hard to decline, especially when I was hungry from starting on my new adventure of counting calories. The most…
