The messages that have been posted in the last few days (and before) have been so enlightening. Some of these thoughts from everyone is like looking into a mirror for me. I too have struggled my ENTIRE life with weight issues. I grew up with three brothers that could eat me under the table, but never gained an ounce of…

I echo everyone's sentiments to get started early. My doctor also stresses the importance of changing eating habits and to add exercise before surgery. I had to jump through the same hoops you are going through. I have met all my requirements now and just lack two more dietician visits and weight ins. One of those is next…

Welcome! I'm one of those that had to jump through the insurance hoops. I had my final appointment with the bariatric dietician today and was really pleased with progress. I concur with everyone to start dieting and exercising as soon as possible. It will help you in the long run with your surgery as you will already have…

Have your thyroid levels been checked lately? A sluggish metabolism could have a lot to do with the slow weight loss.

Renae I completely understand your opinion. I've faced the same words from people who have been friends for years.

I totally agree. I was quite surprised by how thorough the Dr. was. My insurance also covers six free visits. I'm sure I will take advantage in the future.

Holly thanks to you for the wonderful input. Also thanks to Heather and everyone else who have sent a message. It means a lot to have other people sharing their journey with me. Even though I'm just getting started, each perspective helps me in the decisions I make going forward.

I totally agree with you blairmundy and sinderstorm. Even though I am very blunt and outspoken, I don't like conflict. I've also had a couple of friends and family members that have had the surgery and did really well. Unfortunately, I've seen the downside when someone has the surgery and doesn't do well. I think what…

If you like salads, I did a southwestern grilled chicken salad that was really good. I bought the Perdue chicken strips that are already grilled and used them. Here's the recipe -- 3 to 4 oz. grilled chicken (put in a fry pan on medium heat and sprinkle with taco seasoning mix). Heat until warmed through. Assemble 3 cups…

Great job. Be proud of your accomplishments!

Thanks for the input. I assumed the same thing. Some of the people seem like they are trolling for an argument, jumping from forum to forum. I seen some crazy answers on how to best lose weight lol.
