Good for you Sandi. It's not easy to find something to take the place of wine for me. I do like lemon in water, also spearmint, orange slices or cucumber. Flavored water is a great go to in this hot weather.

I'm the same way :/ I really enjoy wine but find I can't control it. You'll find good support here. Dry is the only place to begin. Add me as a friend if you like.

You CAN do it! Trust me, I've been married and began this habit when my kids were babies. After we put them to bed my husband and I would talk about our day after a glass or two of wine. As the years went on 2 glasses turned to a bottle between us and then 2 bottles. Thank God it was never more than that. It's been 7 days…

I've been doing the sparkling water too. A nice sub I think.

Day 7 -- Still going strong. Very proud of myself so far, will keep going. . .

Day 7 -- Still going strong -- No cravings, feel good, sleeping well. Fortunately I have not had any recreation where alcohol is generally consumed i.e. parties, picnics, etc. . . Come on friends, you can do this too. Let's get going again!

Been there -- Done that. . . Hope it works for you. I wish it had worked for me because I really do enjoy my wine but it seems to have a mind of its own and takes control of me rather than the other way around.

Okay, activity is waning here, what's going on? I'm starting day #6, doing good but could use a few MFP's to walk this difficult journey with. Slept well last night. Up early today and feeling good. Never crave alcohol in the day, it's evenings that's a killer for me.

Well, here it is, day #6. Woke up feeling great. Funny, I actually get to bed earlier when not drinking. I usually wake up hacking up mucus (sorry to be so graphic), I think it's because the wine is dehydrating. When I don't drink, I don't have this problem. I started the Whole30 program this month which requires no…

Hi everyone, my name is Cindy. I also decided to do a 30 day run with no alcohol. My husband and I polish off a bottle or two most nights of the week. Don't get me wrong, we really enjoy it, but age is catching up with us and as the years and weight piles up we've decided to make healthier changes now while we still can.…

I use to have that attitude, "fit it in to my calories". I even had a saying, "walk for the wine". But as most people who drink will attest to, stop after one is the exception, not the rule. lol

Hi Laura, I'm doing the Whole30 program too! My hubby and I are wine drinkers, a few glasses at the end of the day (which leads to food and weight gain). I am determined to break this habit. I would love to join hte "No Alcohol August" challenge. I'm going on day 5 today. So far no real cravings, just a passing thought.…

Congrats on making it to day 9. The reward is that you will have control over your body rather than it controling you :)

I do have a sugar and carb addiction so I guess the fact that you feel they are "not real" addictions is mute. Since I have been on…

Figs! But really, I'm not going to your picnic if Donald Trumps hair is gonna be there.

Hi Rushgirl, I was vegetarian in the past as well. Went 3 years before slowly putting back the things that made me feel sluggish as well. I've started a group, 30 Days A Vegetarian. If you click on groups at the top of the page and search for us, you'll find a few new friends to join you on your journey. We can do this.

Shell, didn't tell people to join me, invited those who have thought about it try it with me. I'm not upset or dramatic, just letting my voice be heard as well. Glad you enjoy being vegetarian. Incidentally, clean eating is primarily staying clear of process foods. The Fitness Friends, Fitness Foes comment was meant to be…

Spearmintskies, vegetarians can eat eggs, I raise my own hens.

I'm happy for all of you who like meat, I do too, it just doesn't like me :( Surely you must have noticed when you came into this post that I asked if you ever thought of becoming a vegetarian, not if or why you like meat, but thanks for letting us know that.

Not eating vegetarian to lose weight. I understand that a lot of dairy (i.e. cheese) and pasta's are eaten by vegetarians as well as a LOT of processed "natural" foods. My intention is clean eating! I grow a lot of food, fruit trees, vines and bushes as well as a pretty prolific veggie garden. I also deal with stomach…

Living Foods! Nothing processed. If you look at the ingredients label and wouldn't be able to find the ingredient in your pantry it's not worth eating. Meats, veggies, fruits, nuts, grains are all an important part of clean eating.

Beautiful pics! I picked a few handfuls of cherry tomatoes, a zucchini and yellow squash, a bell pepper and some basil for a pasta salad. Oh, and a few various herbs for the dressing. This past weekend I cleaned my Apricot tree of all the fruit (started to go bad due to extreme humidity), set it up for winter use. I'd say…
