  • Oatmeal & bagel with jam!! I usually eat right when I wake up before I get ready. Then I have 3 cliff energy chews right at start of race and 3 in the middle about mile 5-6. Great post, nice to see what others eat before a half, sometime I wonder if I am doing it right, but it seems to work.
  • I tend to look not only at my daily net calories, but also weekly net calories. There are some days where I will eat over my net goal for the day and other I will be stay under. Especially on my long run days I can sometimes net below 1000, but I usually make up for that on my walk/rest/recovery days and my net will be…
  • I count water as water & say if I drink a Gatorade I log that under a snack just because it has 140 calories. And regardless if I drink or eat something with a calorie, a calorie is a calorie.
  • Mine either, I usually will log in to the online website, disconnect my fitbit & reconnect it then it will sync my steps, but have to continually do this if I want my steps to sync with MFP.
  • First of all you need to look in the mirror and say I am so proud of you today!! You did it!! I know what you mean everyone else around me is proud of me for my success in my weight loss except my mother in law, I just chalk it up to pure jealousy. One key to success is to surround yourself around positive people and your…
  • Inspiration right there, Congratulations!! Well Done!! Great Strength and Courage to Stay the Course!!
  • First off quick weight loss is setting yourself up to gain it back. Slow and steady is the way to go, it took me 4 months to loose 30lbs and another 4 months to loose the final 15lbs and have been maintaining since April of 2016. I am afraid you might be looking at weight loss as a diet, think of it as a lifestyle change…
  • When I was in loosing mode, I ran across the same calorie calculator, it is actually nice to know what your BMR rate is as well, so that on days you don't exercise you can stay within your limits as well. So much information on the web, don't worry about it to much, I would get on the same stand still. Then eventually I…
  • I found this when I was in the loosing mode, about every three months I would up my calories to 1800 vs 1200 for a weekend. It seemed to work for me. https://www.jillianmichaels.com/blog/weight-loss/break-through-any-weight-loss-plateau
  • Love, Love, Love it  Congratulations, your story is so similar to mine and I felt the same way. Great Accomplishment to be proud of yourself for.
  • You need to take it one day at a time, I agree weight loss/life style change is a long term commitment. When I first started I weighed myself daily, recorded my weight loss progress every Monday. Had a reminder on my calendar every 5 weeks I would do a weigh in/measure day to check my measurement progress as well. I also…
  • When I first started my journey, July 2015 on MFP I was logging calories and walking, where I lost the majority of my weight. I gradually started running again which I had done years ago, but fell by the way side. Last year 2016 I ran my first 10k, then on to my first Half Marathon, so last summer during my training I…
  • I used to be that way, worried that if I missed a day of not hitting my steps for the day the world would come to an end. But this summer I made goals to run a full marathon and 5 half marathons. So up until last week, I would take a complete rest day on Sundays where I would do just things like catch up around the house,…
  • Just one thing if it hasn't already been mentioned start with small goals. Your main goal is 200, but start with 50 as your first goal and then move on to the next 50. When I started I wanted to loose 30, when I reached that goal I went on to the next 10. which was my true goal to loose 40 and winded up loosing 5 more…
  • I generally have the same opinion on sugar in fruit vs sugar I say a piece of cake. That one is better for you than the other. But I also, measure, weigh and log my fruit into my calorie intake for the day. Since I started my journey on MFP, I think swapping that bag of chips/Cheetos/piece of cake/brownie/cookie for say…
  • I used to think there was a miracle drug out there until I found MFP and started logging my calories and walking again. (3 weeks ago I ran my first marathon & have run 4 half marathon's and got 2 more yet this fall) You just have to take it one day at a time, it's a process that takes time, but eventually you will find…
  • Welcome Back!! It's the struggles that make us stronger and more determined!! Keep the Faith in yourself and you will do great!!
  • You should listen to your doctor, but is the 2300 gross or net calories. I run 4 days a week/walk 2/true rest 1 day a week. When I plug in the numbers for myself on MFP I do set my goal as sedentary as I to work from an office everyday, but I also am training for a marathon in August. I have really come to learn from MFP…
  • I used to in the beginning from my mother-in-law. I think because they might only see once a month or so that they just haven't gotten used to seeing me this way. It is annoying, but I know that I am at a healthy weight for my height and age. I have started running and getting ready to run a half marathon in August, last…
  • Hello Nicki, I am in maintenance mode too. I think I was you at your age, I would loose some weight feel good and then go back to my old ways was like a roller coaster ride. Since I found MFP I think it makes me more accountable and helps keeps me stay on track. I actually find myself increasing my activity level, ran a…
  • Co-workers that think pulling in the parking lot at 8 AM and walking in the door at 8:02 is on time, when starting time is 8 AM. After I clean house if the family is home, will look as though I did nothing with in an hour. Walking on my wet floor, can't you wait 10 minutes for it to dry. Now I say I am mopping, going once…
  • I think my weight chose me, my first goal was to get to 150, once I hit that I chose another goal of 140 once I got there a few more pounds came off and thought what am I doing wrong that I keep loosing weight, now for the past month I have been holding steady between 135-140 depending on the time of day I weigh myself. I…
  • I am having the same problem in maintenance, I lost another pound, so this week I am increasing my net calories by 100. I have actually been eating 200 over MFP recommended net calories too. I was doing really good maintained for 4 weeks & then at next weigh in I was down another pound. Sometimes I feel that at the end of…
  • I was in the Army for 21 years and had never heard of the military diet until today. I agree that it is just another fad diet that might work short term and the military would never support such unhealthy eating. If you want long term results, setup your MFP for just that. It will help you achieve a new lifestyle not…
  • My initial goal was 30 lbs, then I kept loosing and eventually have lost a total of 44 lbs, which has put me at the weight I was when I first met my husband. And by all calculations out their I am at my healthy weight range. The hardest part for me has been to add those extra calories in to maintain and stop the weight…
  • Since I hit maintenance I am almost afraid to quit logging. I also have yet to find my middle ground to stop loosing and to actually be in a maintenance mode of where I stay within my range. I call this my lifestyle change I figure I spend time looking at my FB wall everyday, I can spend a few minutes logging my calories…
  • I am in, sent you a friend request, I started maintenance 2 months ago and plan to continue logging as this is my new lifestyle change.
  • I weigh myself daily, I only record my progress weekly on Monday's. Some will say throw away the scale, but in reading some info on weight maintenance it recommends weighing daily. As long as I stay with in my range I don't get to upset. I also take weekly measurements, which makes me feel that much better about my…
  • I just recently reached my goal as well, I am trying not to fret too much over Thanksgiving or the Holidays for that matter. I plan to just stay the course. I also agree to enjoy Thanksgiving, it is just one day / one meal. One thing MFP has taught me over the past 4 1/2 months is portion control, so this is going to be a…
