I used to love thin mints. Took a year off as we started changing what we ate. I bought some last year and I no longer care for them. The waxy texture was not working for me.

Ever had Salmonella? I did, a restaurant called The Phoenix in downtown KCMO fed me bad homemade mayo. About 8 hours later I went to the bathroom, took a bucket with me. Two days later I was admitted to the gastrointestinal unit. You haven't lived till you spend three days in there! Oh the sounds and the odors. If you want…

We've frozen cooked, nothing to it. Put it in the freezer then take it out.

I have BP issues and carefully monitor sodium. Proceed foods of most forms tend to be high, canned foods, most restaurants foods are loaded with sodium*. There are low sodium types of soups, canned goods etc. Start reading labels. The DASH diet is a good reference. *check out your favorite fast food place place. A…

My wife is on risperdal, put on 35 pounds when she started it. When she started dieting her doc didn't think she'd lose. Well 55 pounds later the doc changed his mind. Point is don't believe all the side effects. You'll find many folks here who lost weight on those types of meds. Good luck!

I've found a couple of references to that statement. I'll have to experiment more. However compared to the 45 minutes I cooked steel cut Oatmeal to almost done. I'll take 3 minutes plus 20 of release!

Try your mashed potatos at 7500'! Water seems to boil here in the 190s so everything takes much longer to cook. We love the thing. Every thing cooks fast and at a consistent time. When you adapt recipes there's no exact formula so it all about trial and error. Not with the pressure cooker! Its cooks in the same time no…

Great point Heidi made. Add herbs to the crust. Basil, oregano, rosemary, red pepper flakes are some of ours favorites.

Age is a factor. I recall a poster in the success stories who had lost a lot, triple digit loss. They said their vision did change. I don't recall how long the time frame is. No matter your getting checked.

This is amazing. The secret is 00 flour, it's different almost a silky feel to the flour. I made a batch three days ago. Simple easy and delicious. The dough works well, cooks nice and light and crispy! I've used it on the grill, and a stone. You could probably just put it on the oven rack directly.…

Diet pushers and supplement pushers. My 76 yo cousin keeps posting the same stuff on fb about memory pills. I think they're not working as she's posted the same nonsense about Warren Buffett is successful because these.

I grew up drinking coke. Sometimes it was root beer, orange, grape or 7-up. All coke!

Did Moonbeam come up with this?

Yeah that happens. I'm 165 in the morning, 170 at night.

Great post. One note Kilobytes, Megabytes, Gigabytes... the definition is platform and vendor specific. On IBM mainframe, I Series the standard is 1024x1024, Unix and other platforms use 1000x1000. Even within the family you can find different definitions. A real pain.

Wife did that a while back. Food was expensive and it tasted like cardboard. She lost weight, then quit buying expensive, bad tasting food and gained it back. We've both been maintaining for 15 months after dropping 55 pounds apiece, eating food we make from the grocery store.

Other than water retention some folks have medical issues like hypertension, sodium can be a problem for us. If that's a problem check out the DASH diet.

Have you been somewhere that parasites are common? Drinking non treated water? Eating raw fish, poultry or meat?

I've eaten banana almost every day for over 550 days. Lost and maintaining a 55 pound loss. What was the question?

Good luck. I have c-spine issues and have much empathy. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Anytime I hear folks talking about wellies there's normally a sheep in the story.

Bacon and eggs one piece of toast. The other day we had some crab leg left over, DW put it in an omelet! Worth just buying crab for that.

Great post. One thing to over emphasize. Take care of you! Caregiving is very hard emotionally and physically. Don't be afraid to ask for some help or to take a day or whatever you can manage. Sometimes community centers have events or contacts for alternative arrangements. Best wishes to you.

Great job! We left MO this year, while I love where we are now, but MO is still home.

After thirty medicated years I did. The big thing for me was weight. I was obese and when my BMI got close to healthy it dropped! Others mentioned DASH, good plan. At least I believe it helps. Good to cut out or down on alcohol and smoking too. Good luck. I'm forever greatfulto be off the meds. I'd take them again if I had…

Chicken that you buy sure isn't the same as the chicken you raise yourself. Sometimes I think that things taste like chicken, cause chicken ain't chicken any more. I do find the more expensive brands to be more appealing(smaller) as opposed to some of the bargain brands. I suppose that's very subjective based on a large…

It's always done that. Right? Now you just have visibility to it. Happens all the time, to everything.
