If you want it, you need to define choices and motivations. Some can forgo the 'comfort'. I simply don't want to! So, I've found the Carbquick to make some pretty tasty things with a fraction of the carbs. Depends how low your carb allowance is, but it sure beats diving into the higher carb versions :)

well, this morning I wanted something so I mixed some coconut oil, cocoa powder, some liquid stevia, erythritol and dipped some pecans and unsweetened coconut in it. Since the oil was solid due to temperature, this worked out extremely well and got me over the craving without spiking my glucose numbers.

Hot lemon water?

@christinev297 sounds yummy. OP, is it the caffeine or some sweetener/creamer you use that causes upset?

125, not good but considering still fighting infection, odd sleep pattern, changing Metformin's kind and strength, plus more carbs, it could be worse. Today's a new day for healing.

104 yesterday and 118 today but I had no medicine with my overindulgent carb filled cheeseburger. Considering both of those as well as still getting over the cold, not bad.

@daylitemag did you know you that your wife (or you) can make some pretty tasty brownies using Carbquick? They have recipes on their site. I just ate a chunk of zucchini bread made with it and it fits in my diet if I don't eat more than a couple of slices. I did try some of the 60 second flax muffin and put in some cocoa…

Queenmunchy, awesome specific directions that I will try tomorrow. Thanks so much to all of you for your suggestions!!!!!

Second on that recommendation: Pure Encapsulations is of high quality. I found it cheaper at Swanson vitamins online. Look for their tab called Professional Lines.

Have you tried the Fifty50 chocolate bars? It isn't dark chocolate, but it does taste (too) good. Sweetener is isomalt and does have soy lecithin. It doesn't substantially raise my blood sugar levels.

104, much better but slept super late too. Hope everyone else got rest this weekend also.
-
seriously yummy and creative ideas! @JodehFoster, WHAT IS YOUR ADDRESS? I'll be over for DINNER!!! you got me at Gruyère.

interesting and likely helpful to me but I doubt my regular doc would write me a script and they I'd reeeaaallly be battling chocolate cravings! And I doubt my school board would make an exception for medical grounds:( seriously though.. how well designed was this study?

embarrassingly... 135... blame it on the cold, not my cheats yesterday.
-
@Queenmunchy - love your name. Do you have a recipe for any of those? Meatballs sound interesting. Freezer burritos - really would need a recipe there since I don't have any of the super expensive low carb tortillas (wish!). Wouldn't the zucchini get pretty soggy? or is it just a small amount? I'd love to come to your…

I congratulate you for finding the source of your issues and taking healthier measures to deal proactively. Unfortunately, I cannot give you advice on the actual question you asked. I pray that you find those people on this forum. However, since you mentioned a change in your coping as winter approaches, you might want to…

120. Feeling still not great with a cold so I went to bed 6pm my time without evening Metformin. All that considered, not too terrible of a number.
-
Doctor just told me about their most recent studies: the only way to increase healthy cholesterol beyond diet was to do sprint like exercise (=bust your butt ) for 15 min. (as opposed to an hour long with less intensity exercise). Yep... hope this helps you.

no great number here: 126. Ate well yesterday but lately I've been been off diet (more carbs) and had less Metformin. Or could be stress.

I have tried several of theirs. None are wonderful nor horrible. They're passable and the best one I believe is the Mexican chicken. It has a lot of red and green peppers in it. Also decent was their Beef Merlot. I am surprised at the calorie count compared to items you could make at home, however. The Atkins seem higher.…

on second look, it does say chicken flavor, so maybe should double check w/ the company. sorry :(

Glycine might help. It tastes rather sweet. I have about a 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon when I am having an allergic reaction. It helps the liver, I think. It is not likely to hurt and it is not extremely expensive. Also, I just checked Kitchen Basics chicken stock. No MSG or 'flavors' listed. It tastes just soooo much better than…

I knew I wanted to reach the goal weight on my 25 year old (still valid) driver's license which was 135 lbs. I'm within a few pounds of that, but looking at my body, I probably need to adjust down maybe 10 pounds. Now that I am close to my original, I think this new goal is a reasonable one that I can reach in a few…

119 - decreasing Metformin seems to increase fasting numbers. I'll give it another day or two to verify.
-
118 - Wondering if it is because I took Metformin too late and it is a rebound effect?

Stress, tight muscles and migraines. The carbs hit me like a drug and relax the tightness. But I've learned that the tight muscles are caused by inflammation and those carbs cause that inflammation. Vicious cycle.

even at 6.0, you got nephropathy???!!! Is that common? Also, very scary.
