  • Some digital scales need a few minutes in between weighings to reset themselves. If they're used in quick succession they can give different weights.
  • So far it's been a useful tool. It's helped me understand how many calories I consume in a day and spurred me on to do better at minding my food portions and choosing foods that fit my weight loss needs better.
  • I once came across an online group of aspiring writers discussing coping with cold hands. Some of the more experienced ones in that discussion swore by fingerless gloves, saying that even just keeping the palm and back of the hand warm made a big difference. That'd allow you to still shuffle mice, type, play cards badly,…
  • I wish I could, but I live in Florida. I'll sit here and quietly envy those of you in more temperate climes.
  • Couldn't agree more. Some people get so fixated on the end results that they forget about what they've been accomplishing in the meantime.
  • Welcome back and thank you for sharing your story. You're right that every day is a new day that we get to try again. Best of luck to you.
  • You might be starting over, but you're coming back primed with experience and the knowledge of what worked for you. I'm a first timer hoping I don't allow myself to become complacent later on.
  • That's a prescription only pill, isn't it? If you need to take it with food, there should be a note on the bottle/package that says so. If you're still not sure, call the pharmacy that filled the prescription and ask. The pharmacist will tell you. Best of luck with it. I hope it helps you reach your goals.
  • Biggest challenge: The closer I'm getting to my second goal, the more impatient I'm starting to feel about getting there. SW: 121.2 lbs CW: 118.2 lbs GW: 116.2 lbs Weigh in dates: Start of the month(08/01 Saturday): 121.2 lbs 08/08 Sat: 119.8 lbs 08/15 Sat: 119.8 lbs 08/22 Sat: 120.4 lbs 08/29 Sat: 118.2 End of the…
  • I'd prove to myself that I didn't crave/want it by not buying it instead of having it sitting around the house going stale. If I do buy it (and Reese's is my favorite, followed by Mounds) then it's going straight to the fridge to get nice and chilled while I decide how to fit it into my calorie budget.
  • Choosing healthier options and portion control. A lot of restaurants will box up half your meal before even bringing your plate out, if you ask them.
  • Hooray for those overnight plunges. :) Congrats.
  • You just did yourself a huge favor by blocking his fb profile. Do you think part of your behavior is because you're grieving for the early part of the relationship that used to be good? Find some things to get involved with. Try a new activity through a local Parks & Rec Department, explore a new hobby, put in some extra…
  • Congratulations.
  • I also weigh daily and record my weight in the morning. Like you, I'll also hop on the scale in the evening (and maybe sometimes that'll be before and after dinner just to watch how the numbers change because I'm easily amused that way...) Motivation can be found in all sorts of forms. As long as it's working for you, keep…
  • I once had an ex who expected me to home at his convenience. He was displeased if I went to do things without him, but at the same time he only wanted to sit and watch tv or sleep. Meals had to be catered to his wants, too. Going to a gym evoked twice as much criticism as gaining 10 pounds. I don't miss him. Lots of us…
  • If you binge or skip going to the gym, acknowledge to yourself that it wasn't the day you wanted to have and then let it go. No beating yourself up over it. Put yourself back on your health plan the next day and move on. You mentioned that you're uncomfortable as you are. Making the sustainable, long term changes in our…
  • Instead of letting those unpleasant feelings ruin your day, you're getting to their roots and using them to make healthier choices for yourself. Good for you and best of luck.
  • Congratulations on the good work. A victory like that can make it easier to keep pushing on to the next goal. Keep up the good work.
  • I've got that one friend who gets jealous if people pay attention to/notice/think about someone besides her. Someone once complemented me about having even skin tones in front of her, so she immediately blurted out, "Yeah, but she's got huge pores." She and others have their own issues and insecurities that they're being…
  • It's good you're adding healthy foods into your diet, but like others have mentioned, it's ok to reserve some of your calories for treats such as alcohol and desserts. It's easiest for me to do that if I plan ahead and pre-log the foods I expect to eat either a day ahead or at the start of the day. The plan usually changes…

  • Congrats, TerryRichards112. It sounds like this month was exactly what you needed. Biggest success this week: Just staying the course and sticking to my food/exercise goals. SW: 121.2 lbs CW: 118.2 lbs GW: 116.2 lbs Weigh in dates: Start of the month(08/01 Saturday): 121.2 lbs 08/08 Sat: 119.8 lbs 08/15 Sat: 119.8 lbs…
  • 1. Changing dinner plans after I've defrosted something to cook doesn't happen more than once a month. Even then, I still prep the meat and cook it that evening or the next day. 2. There was a chronic problem with sandwich meat going to waste. I stopped buying it so anyone who wants a turkey sandwich here has to go to a…
  • Giving up dessert would mean giving up the longest lasting relationship I've ever had. Like the others, it's still in my life, just maybe not in the same quantities as it use to be.
  • Congratulations on the success you've had so far.
  • Congratulations to both of you, mpeterson86 and geotraveling. Cupcpakesplz is right, once you get the firsts out of the way, it does get easier and easier. That sounds like a successful attitude, to me. Most all of us are going to have off days. What matters more is that we move on and get ourselves back on track.
  • As others mentioned, most of the people there will be more concerned with what they're imagining everyone else thinks about them. If you did decide you were too uncomfortable to be completely seen in a swimsuit yet, a swimsuit cover might come in handy. Even the net/crochet styled ones will distract the eyes of others more…

  • You've got a lot of ideas to explore now. Have fun checking them out and keep trying things until you find a couple you enjoy.
  • I'll second a beginner's bellydance class. It's fun to do something different and I've been in classes with fellow students ranging from 90 to 300+ lbs. Although it's really normal for some people to feel self conscious at the beginning, those who stick with it for 3 or 4 classes usually end up having a lot of fun and…
  • Yep, aside from that day I was trying to scan the bar code on the side of the open can and tilted the can too far...
