Also I sometimes enjoy a Diet Mt. Dew too

I think you need more protein, personally. Are you vegetarian? If not, good choices of lean protein are breast meat turkey and chicken. They can increase your protein intake without giving you a lot of fat. I also rely on eggs to help me meet my goals. I don't track my sugar and I'm a diabetic. I just track overall…

There is definitely a lot of "keto-hate" on MFP. Like you said, it's all in your perspective. We're all sensitive to those posts that we perceive to be negative about our own lifestyles. Keto/low-carb isn't for everyone. There is no universal way to eat. I blame the "hate" on those who preach about the keto/low-carb…

You can do any exercise that suits you but be mindful of your blood sugar both before and after your workout. I personally enjoy yoga and higher-intensity cardio because I find that to be the best thing for my mental health but for blood sugar control even a nice brisk 20-30 minute walk will help you increase your control…

I use Glucerna shakes which contain 16 g carbs. I like the rich chocolate flavor. They come in handy.

OP you may also find that losing weight helps to control your blood sugar as well and you might be able to increase your carb intake. I previously lost (and unfortunately gained back) 50 lbs about two years ago. I was able to cut my diabetes medication by 75% while still having the same carb allowance. If I would have kept…

OP, life is full of temptation and sometimes it's ok to cave. We can treat ourselves responsibly. I've found that the trick is keeping my treats in moderation. By denying myself bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes I make myself miserable. I also eat low carb to keep blood sugar in check but I just aim to be under 100 g for…

Yes I have. It was not intentional. I was really sick for about 3 weeks and could barely take in more than 700-900 calories daily. I think it was due to the medications I had to take during that time. I don't advise it because honestly, I felt extremely weak and very tired. I had no energy.

I take it and am losing weight consistently. I haven't been on Celexa but my youngest child was on it for issues relating to autism and he did gain some weight.

If you like snacking then why not eat less at meals so that you have more room for snacks? You could shave 80-100 calories off of lunch to leave room for a string cheese or a yogurt mid-afternoon (or anything else that fits your calorie and macro goals). I like to snack on something in the evening so I go lighter with main…

What about batch cooking on the weekends or even using a crockpot to batch cook for you while you are working? Honestly, if water weight from sodium intake upsets you then you will need to make a change. I understand being busy. I work about 50 hours a week as a psychologist, have an 8 year old with autism and a 9 year old…

I use pinterest to collect recipes and have adjusted my own macros on here to reflect my personal needs. I batch cook meals for lunches on Sunday nights and I eat whatever my family eats for dinner, just modified portions. Sometimes I swap things (like last night the rest of the family had baked russet potatoes while I had…

Eat the way is sustainable for you. For those who are diabetic (I am Type II) there is a common misconception that we are all the same. Not true. The source of my carbs, combined with what else I'm eating at the time, the time of day, and my activity level all impact my blood sugar. I can eat 45 g of carbs from sweet…

Just jumping on to say that fasting might not be a good idea if your blood sugars are running high. Extended periods of time without food can lead to swings in blood sugar values. Your liver might decide to dump a whole load of glucose into your bloodstream and if you don't have enough insulin in your body to cover that…

I eat anywhere from 50-100 g total carbs. You should have a lot of choices with 100 g allowance. With that level you can enjoy potatoes, bread, and lots of veggies.

I'm Type II and honestly, like others have said, the thing that curbs my craving for sugary foods is cutting out the sugary foods. The first week is the hardest. After that, the cravings really wane. Add some exercise to your daily routine. Even a brisk 20-minute walk can help control blood sugar for 12 hours (or longer!)…

That was really interesting--thanks for sharing!

I'm diabetic and I use both 2% cow's milk and unsweetened almond milk. I use cow's milk for coffee because almond milk is too thin for my liking. I like creamy coffee! I use almond milk for smoothies because I'm using a larger quantity. I don't drink any milk by itself because I don't care for the texture or taste.

I have a few AI disorders, plus diabetes, and am currently undergoing testing of my liver for AI Hep. Try not to be jealous of my life ;) Anyhow, I haven't ever found anything that truly helps. I've had my first AI disorder since the age of 11 (I'm now 36). Eating low-carb, which I do to manage diabetes, has helped with…

I've tried a few recipes for bread alternatives and honestly, none of them taste great to me. They never satisfy the craving. When I'm craving some bread I just have regular bread--just a very small portion that fits into my overall goals. I opt for wheat or whole grain over white. Because I have to be concerned about…

I always follow the lower reading to ensure that I don't eat too many calories back.

Are you taking oral meds for your blood sugar? If you are, there are times they can act up when we take in too much fat. You might also be able to significantly lower your numbers through going low-carb instead of keto but adding in some physical activity. Many people see a positive change in blood sugar numbers after…

You can add me! I go between keto and low-carb.

Are you just doing keto to lose weight? Do you have medical conditions that make this type of lifestyle necessary? If your goal is weight loss and you have no underlying medical conditions that require you to keep close track of carbohydrate intake, then keto might not be the right fit for you. I am diabetic and even I…

Add me! I go between keto and just low-carb and, like you, am doing the diet for reasons other than weight loss. I am diabetic and carefully tracking carbs helps me to keep my blood glucose under control.
-
This exactly. I aim for around 100 g total carbs a day. I'm diabetic and this level is sustainable for me because it is yummy (I LOVE carbs) and helps keep my blood sugar regulated.

"You are losing too much weight" is only a fact when it comes from a trained medical professional. "Your face doesn't look good" is not a fact, it is a perception. People can feel free to express their opinions but should also be prepared for the reactions and consequences--which are likely that other people find you to be…

Honesty does not have to be rude. It is called social skills. There are some things that we might think in our minds or discuss with close friends that aren't appropriate if said to an acquaintance, especially if the comment was unsolicited. This is lesson I'm currently working on with my son, who has high-functioning…

Personally I'm saving 200-300 each day because this weekend I have two parties to attend and it is my son's birthday and we are taking him to dinner. I'm trying to save a little bit every day so I can "afford" that cupcake I want on Saturday.

I've had thyroid disease for 23 years now. Mine is autoimmune. Even when my TSH was 40 I was still losing weight. My TSH is now 4.5--which is still higher than clinicians like to see--and I lose weight. If your TSH levels are too low, you could have hyperthyroidism. Did you mean that your TSH was too HIGH? That is what…
