If you are trying to lose weight I would focus on "maintaining" muscle mass rather than gaining. I would recommend weight lifting in the evening as well and just make sure your getting enough protein throughout the day. I use an app called Strong to record my weight lifting workouts. It's easy to use and let's you track PR's easily. I also love just the good old fashioned pen and paper method too for recording progress and workouts.
