Not planning ahead is what derails me every time. When I plan and prepare meals in advance it is so easy though. I got back on the primal wagon yesterday and did a decent 'cook up' yesterday morning of egg & sausage bake (breakfast handled all week and my husband likes this too), a huge pan of meatballs which I can toss…

2016 Resolution - Build the habits DAILY needed to achieve optimal health and expand my horizons. I will do this by: daily exercise of at least 45 minutes tracking 100% of my food/beverages and keeping carbs under 75g (I will probably go lower but starting there) Meditating daily for stress relief and to improve focus…

I bought a DeskCycle last fall and it has really good adjustable tension, is quiet, nice read out BUT I just couldn't concentrate and pedal at the same time (I am a writer) so it became a $150 footrest for a few months and is now residing in the garage ready to be taken to the donation bin. It might work for someone who…

Hi! I am Sharon and a health researcher who is lucky enough to live on the beautiful coast of North Carolina. I have been successful losing and keeping weight off in the past but the last 5 years have been more about gaining than losing weight. I am ready to build the habits and momentum to get the extra weight off. It is…

While I have never had a problem making paleo mayo I never know what to do with all of it unless we are having company where I can make something like chicken salad. My husband will not give up his Duke's mayonnaise  so if I just need paleo mayo for occasional use I buy Primal Kitchen's mayo. It is pretty tasty and…

Make Ahead Paleo is one my favorite paleo/primal cookbooks (I have about a dozen) because it has many recipes that are easy, one pot or reheat really well. It is just my husband and I (and he is not paleo) so having easy, ready to heat food is important to me.

I don't have a problem with nuts (except peanuts which aren't really a nut and I just don't eat those anymore) but if I eat too many (paleo treat can be 'nut heavy') I don't feel as well so I typically stick to 1-2 oz at a time and don't eat them everyday.

If you have not tried a challenge of sorts either a 21 Day Sugar Detox or Whole 30 might help you break the cycle and provides some guidelines for both during and after the challenge. I have done both a few times, usually when it feels like things are getting out of control ...craving sweets, wine and carb-y things. It has…

yesterday was a rest day (actually a lower body weight day); ran this morning but did Week 1, Day 1 again...switched apps since C25K Pro was not syncing with MFP. Switched to 5K Runner (like C25K Pro better from a usability standpoint but 5K Runner will do the job)

I started yesterday and even though I worked late hit treadmill for Week 1, Day 1 - I have not run regularly in almost a year following a torn meniscus and then a badly strained achilles tendon I thought would never heal (the achilles tendon was a non-running injury). It is good to be BACK!

I have no control with treats, paleo or otherwise so just skip them (or if I make something end up regretting it). If I am going to have a treat it is a baked apple with grass fed butter, a bit of honey, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts
