I am in Cedar Park!

Was planning on doing 750m again today, but the lady in the lane next to me kept splashing water in my face/mouth with her fins, so I cut my swim short at 450m. I'm just glad to have had the chance to sneak.in a swim!

The pool at my Gold's Gym is heated to 84 degrees if I remember correctly. It's terrible. :(

Another personal best for me today! 25 minutes, 750m, with almost every other length being freestyle!

Welcome! I'm fairly new to swimming, just got in the pool 3 weeks ago! I am looking forward to watching your progress!

So, for my mental and physical health, I quit my job today, on pretty short notice. To take my mind off of the new job hunt that is at stake, I did a quick 9 minute, 250m swim. Not a long swim by any means, but I followed it up with other exercise. I went to a local swim shop this week and bought an ACTUAL lap swimming…

4th swim of the week. 20 minutes, 500m. New personal best for me. I couldn't enjoy it though because I shut my mind down to stop thinking about stressful things that have happened this week. :/

Today's swim: 450 (free/back/kicks) in 20 minutes. I did a quick walk before my swim, and that little bit of energy spent before the swim had a negative affect on my firm :/ lesson learned!

I have been swimming for the last 2 weeks or so. At the suggestion of others, instead of just resting, I incorporated lengths of kicks and backstroke instead of only doing freestyle. So, before using these new suggestions, I was doing 250m in 15ish minutes including breaks. Last night, I did 400m in 20 minutes with out…

Lots of great tips! I will make sure to start wetting my hair with non chlorinated water prior to putting on my cap. I have a silicone nike cap I believe, but keeping extras on hand is a great idea!

This is fantastic! Welcome! I am new to swimming for exercise/weight loss, my first day in the pool was 7/21/15! I have had great success in the past on a LCHF diet, and I loved it! But with my current work situation, I can't keep up with the water intake and bathroom breaks needed without getting performance managed for…

Those are great tips! That way I spend the minute "resting" but still moving! I never even thought to incorporate backstroke into my routine for that reason, thanks for suggesting it! Stephen, that is a great motivator, and hopefully I can achieve the same!

Welcome Scott! I'm new to swimming, and have a friend who was a DI swimmer in college also who has been helping me out. I look forward to cheering you on! Sending a friend request, by the way :)

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to progressing! There is an aqua fitness class at the Gold's Gym I swim at, but the only day of the week I would be able to go, they only do actual exercise for about 20 minutes, and the rest is water volleyball.

Hi all! I am new to swimming, and have gone about 8 times in the last two weeks. I've been focusing a lot on getting my breathing and form correct during freestyle, and have to take a break after every length because I don't know how to do it in a "low impact" way! Just by counting my heart beats, after every length my…

I definitely will! I've been doing a half way decent job on my own, but it is hard to find advice geared towards weight loss and not competition level swimming!

Just got my Charge HR on Thursday, and could use some more friends! https://www.fitbit.com/user/3MFLBX
