I took a month off from calorie counting. Injuries, illness and excessive workload made me think Ill test myself and reduce one self-improvement metric. Result: I gained 1kg. I remember days where i thought I didnt eat above my quota but obviously somewhere here I went wrong. Cc allows for a metric to review, to go back…

This is such a true gem and brave comment. Well worded and to the exact point.

Being worth it is one thing- you are of course. Who isn't? But that self-sabotaging perspective is dynamite enough to railroad you're best intentions. I love this quote' sometimes in order to win you have become someone you're not'. I think we all have to dig deep at times. Especially for what seems at times such small…

You highlight something I've been thinking about for a long time while here on MFP and I just didn't know when or where to raise it. There are a high majority of folks that have these numbers which I wonder how they are established. Does it originate from what we once weighed in high school, before we got married, at age X…

It's wonderful to see a weight goal by a woman that's nice and healthy. You could stop and maintain now as you look fabulous. Hate to see those cheeks go!

If it's for yourself it's meh ok. the juice or rather smoothies were good but watch how you wash it because there are hidden spots in poor construction of certain models that allow mould to grow. If more than yourself using it - juicing for two or more at once I'd stay away. I went through 4 of them with seals breaking,…

@blankiefinder - lordie you folks sound like a very busy house who needs exercise when reading all this activity! :D Much appreciated re/ info.

@saphin - vegeroni ... don't know if we have it here in the UK ...

@3dogsrunning Thanks for that link. Looking it up. And good to know about heads up on chocolate milk. I certainly don't want to go there if I don't have to but when caught out and have to tuck into a petrol station for a quick carb/ protein mix maybe this is an option. I'll read more.

@blankiefinder triathlon - half ironman to Olympic distance. I train 15 hours per week but ramping up to 20- 25 as the distances over winter increase. I do strength training ( in adaptation phase right now) twice a week. My runs are approaching 2hours long/ bike 2 hours long and swims are getting up to 2 hours long. I do…

Heading to the lido to work on the basics. Going to spend the hour doing pencil drills, centre of buoyancy reconfiguring, and basic 'get that *kitten* up from dragging' - as I have this promise I made to myself that this winter I learn to slip through the water rather than plow.

Last days of open water here in West London. Last evening tonight at Thorpe Park. This is my other dipping space - Bray Lake.

@kommodevaran re meat- our property backs out onto a small holding - cattle. Only 16 'beasts' as my farmer neighbour refers to them. Over the years learning their personality and characteristics I've developed a 'cow whisperer' mentality - especially when I've been involved in assisting with calve births. So I've pulled…

Thanks for all the incredible feedback folks. Very educational. I got really confused reading this article in Triathlon magazine stating: "So what are the right amounts? “Typically, carbohydrate needs will vary from 5 to 10 grams per kilogram of body weight per day with training ranging from one hour per day to five hours…

I've changed my settings on my diary- diary now open. Again thanks for all the very valuable input. It's all really very helpful.

I thought it would be quite the opposite. Seeing some of these amazing transformations my impressions have been the husband or boyfriend is thinking- Man this is like Christmas.Score! Seeing how the MFP women (and men) radiate with such a self -confidence this could only be (I thought) quite a relationship booster…

@kommodevaran - I really appreciate your astute insight. Some thoughts to 'digest'...

Thanks folks - your input is well appreciated. I should have been more specific that according to the MFP stats when I log in foods I'm showing all the deficiencies that I noted. I train for triathlons and monitor my workout stamina by the food I eat - and so far 6 day/ week workouts at Zone 3 - 5 of my heart rate and I'm…

@MDLNH thanks for your reply. Check! Check! and Check! All of what you described is spot on. I thought doing 2-2.5 km open water swims would turn the 25m pool into a cakewalk but it is this current and temporary inability to 'settle' into a rhythm which had me curious. (I think bringing too many toys to the pool - from new…

100% Coconut butter. Everywhere! Moisturise or see yourself visiting a dermatologist for localised eczema. I had too and it took two or three years to get it managed. Apply it before bed so your skin and hair get a good conditioning. it's not just pool water but showering before, after workouts and then maybe before bed…

@Capt_Apollo - appreciate your input. I'm coming around to that thought - that my pool time in the outdoor heated offering allows for the outside experience yet I can focus on strike technique et al until spring when open water starts and it will be pretty chilly then anyways.
-
@callsitlikeiseeit the choice to swim in warm water would be mine of course. Indoor pools however I find a real bother. Our shared love for swimming is why I'll freeze my petunias!

I agree with @SueInAz completely. And this comes from years of ignoring that. I used to stack my hierarchy this way: 1. exercise 2. eat 3. sleep Now it's 1. eat - with calorie and nutritional goals in mind. 2. sleep - to recover from daily stress and have clear mind and body for the next day. 3. exercise - in the amount I…

Sweating and being red faced are the least of your worries once you head out. I could list a few other things which are much more embarrassing that could happen but wouldn't want to put you off of running altogether. I think as you pursue more out in the public activities you slowly erase presumptions made by joe public…
