*****Warning - this is more of a rant than anything - please feel free to skip past :) ***** Looks like I'm going to have to declutter people . . . .again. I "decluttered" my sisters a long time ago. Almost two decades ago. I don't miss them because the pair of them were toxic and were horrible to me from early childhood…

I used to work in sexual health - most of the women we saw wanted the pill/injection etc and most put on weight. We attributed it to an increase in appetite because of the hormones in the pill. No idea if that's true or not, we had no scientific research/control group to back it up. The bottom line was that they were…

Nothing moronic about that - I've had similar.

The thing is, it's not just children to daycare, though. I was in a restaurant yesterday and this couple came in, sat at the table next to us and the man started coughing and sneezing all over the place. I just wanted to tell him to go home and stop spreading whatever he has around. Then his daughter and grandchildren…

I was somewhat disappointed to find that today's parkrun course was particularly soggy, muddy, slippery and generally difficult to wade through. I was not surprised to discover that I did not beat last week's time :( However, apparently my son and I achieved a new PB for that course :) They say that every cloud has a…

Two minutes and twenty-three seconds off last week's parkrun time . . .

@ReenieHJ - wonderful memories, thank you for sharing. I had to make a decision about some birthday cards from over two decades ago. I decided that they had to go as I no longer needed them. That's how I've been handling all of my decluttering - do I need this and does it make me happy? If the answer is "no" to either…

Well, I learned something today - I hadn't even heard the term "packrat" before. Interesting. DH has DARED to put stuff on my clutter-free bedroom floor. I asked him why, to be told that he has nowhere to put it. I cleared out some more stuff from my bedroom (decluttering the decluttered clutter) and told him that there is…

Facebook is an awful thing. I never had an account as there are some people that I don't wish to see/talk to/hear from and one of them would have found me (being as she persuaded my mother to give her my address so she could write to me, even though my mother had promised me that she wouldn't give my address to anyone). My…

Today I dragged my sorry, exhausted (poor night's sleep) self out of bed, brutally woke my son and went to parkrun. My aim today was to improve on last week's time. I found a run that was along paths (prefer hard paths to grass, which slows me down, especially at the moment when it's so wet as I don't want to fall and end…

One of the very worst moments was when I wanted to take my youngest on her first roller-coaster ride and had to get off again as the ride operator couldn't get the safety bar to lock, due to my bulk. My older daughter had to take my place. I was mortifed but the ride operator was really sweet about it (which, I think, made…

Why not put them on a blog and recycle the paper ones? I have boxes and boxes full of artwork that my children have produced over the years. My seven-year old probably produces ten new drawings a DAY (despite digital methods being available to her, she prefers to be able to physically give her drawings to people). That's a…

Decluttered the boot of my car today (I decluttered, aka, emptied, the main part of the car last month after a lovely local career criminal broke into my car, left the valuable stuff and stole an out of date first aid kit - I decided that there would be nothing left in my car for her to steal should she decide to break…

I am BEYOND wildly excited today. At the end of last week's parkrun, I set myself the goal of being faster this week. This week's run was hard as it was SO cold - the it hurts to breathe when running type of cold - but I kept an eye on the time and pushed myself (and by default my son, who inbetween times was strongly…

Well, it's amazing what you find when decluttering - so far this week I'm about £75 richer, just from money I've found amongst all the junk, including some notes 'put away safely' in envelopes (and then promptly forgotten about).

Another four boxes of stuff to the charity shop and one box to the local library for their children's sessions. Have also got a load of stuff to sell but listing that will have to wait until I'm through the current wave of decluttering. It's out of the way, so I can get on with decorating my lounge but it's not forgotten…

I really didn't want to get up this morning when the alarm went off. Hit snooze and darn it, the annoying thing went off again just seconds later (or so it seemed). Killed it and dragged my sorry butt out of bed. Sat on the edge of the bed, thinking, "WHY am I doing this?" but eventually shifted myself into the bathroom…

So annoyed! DH dared to put clutter in my bedroom haven. He won't do it again though, as he was told to get it shifted that very minute (and he did).

Decluttered my bedroom at last! It's taken a while as I have been waiting for wardrobes/bedroom furniture to be delivered and built. I didn't just shove things in the cupboards either, I looked at everything and made a decision whether to keep it or get rid of it. I would say that I got rid of over half of the "stuff". My…

1) Today I completed my sixth parkrun over the last two weeks and my third (two on New Year's Day plus this morning's run) of 2020. 2) I was offered a piece of cake by DH. I made him weigh it, took one small bite from it and decided that I'd rather have a banana. Dumped the cake and ate the banana. Way nicer. Cake is meh.

1) Survived the second worst Christmas of my life (the worst was when my son was taken into hospital as a poorly newborn - he is now a strapping 15 year old who only visits the doctor for his annual flu jab). Totally stressed, on lovely antibiotics for a leg infection and had a very difficult adult daughter to deal with,…

Finally stopped feeling sorry for myself and spoke to the PTs in my gym. Turns out that there's one who specialises in trauma rehab. Discussed the issues that I've had since the accident and he suggested an assessment to see whether he can help or if I should return to the physio. Appointment booked :) I have also been…

To everyone who replied to my post regarding my daughter - thank you. Even my mum says that she needs to grow up. I did point out to my daughter that she surely had more important things to focus on but I think that she enjoys playing "the victim". Maybe she hasn't settled at uni yet but I was of the opinion that she was…

I am ashamed to say that I told her that she was welcome to sleep elsewhere if the room colour was not to her liking . . . her response was, "WHERE?". Hmm. Not my problem. Not this time. The really stupid thing is that she hasn't even SEEN the room. It looks really good. My teenage sons are totally perplexed by her extreme…

My (adult) daughter was particularly difficult yesterday and continues to be difficult today. She's at university and has been sending her dad and I the most horrible messages - think along terms of "you don't know me, you don't take my feelings into consideration, you don't love me". We must have done something really,…

100th parkrun done and dusted.

99th parkrun completed this morning. Never thought I'd say that. "Run" and "completed" in the same sentence.

I did it. 20 mile bike ride. A week ahead of my target. It was slow (probably the slowest 20 miles I've done to date but that will improve) but utterly wonderful. I also conquered another "slope". I usually take the long route up this hill but today decided to go the direct - and much steeper - way. This may have added to…
