For me it has kind of followed the BMI tables. When I was in the 'obese' zone 2 lbs happened more readily. As I went further into just 'overweight' 1 lb became the norm. When I enter my healthy BMI range I expect half a pound a week will probably become more common.

Too soon. Do your program for 6-8 weeks & look at the trend.

Both. Tell me the rest of your schedule & I'll tell you where to cut.

She has to want it for herself. End of story. Decide if everything else you like about her outweighs this.

Some of his ideas are pure woo. But indulge him. Let him learn for himself. Focus your attention on yourself and make sure you keep yourself in a deficit. I like to eat 'clean' much of the time myself because it is the wholesome, nutritious, delicious old fashioned stuff formerly known as 'food.' ;-)

It got covered above... Womansplain to your husband BMR = height (can't change), age (can't change), gender (expensive & uncomfortable to change), weight (meaning BMR must go down if you are now obese) and a small degree of body composition (that can change slowly, and nudge your number back up, but not enough to make a…

I'm riding a runaway elephant!

You sound overwhelmed. Start with your eating. Know what you are eating. Know what you typically burn in a day. Create a deficit between the two. It doesn't have to be huge. Do what you can. Add one thing at a time with workouts. It is best to start simple. What do you like to do? Start there.

I follow my Fitbit HR set to a 500 calorie daily deficit. If I earn 'em, I eat 'em! Maybe not that same day but that week for sure. I try to keep my weekly deficit right around 3500. I don't mind losing slowly. Most days I eat between 1700 and 2000.

Like Sarah palin's russia, I can see my YMCA gym from my front porch... Takes me about 3 minutes to get there during non peak traffic; 5 if I have to wait at the crosswalk.

Parties. Went to two this week. They kill my weekly deficit. Bah humbug!!
-
If you find a way, send some to me. It's the first place I lose and frankly I'm feeling kinda hipless these days!

I try to just bite my tongue. And smile. Can't forget the smile. Two of the most memorable... A teacher I worked with who weighs at least 300 lbs telling me her metabolism 'just doesn't work' because she's sure she's been eating 1200 calories a day since school started (in August!) and that's got to be a sign that gastric…

Sort of both. But I attended back to back hen parties with wine & snacks both Sunday & Monday nights and I am feeling like a poor planner at the moment. Parties just KILL my deficit! Mostly I make a menu for the week, shop Saturday afternoon & prep everything when I get it home. There are few surprises as long as I steer…

Yes, I really question amenorrhea being 'prescribed' by a certified medical team. There is something wrong here.

This is how the WHOLE process will go... Work on your regrouping skills. There's no 'perfect' out there that any of us magically get to. Just more better days than worse.

I make the barilla protein pasta. Not low cal but high nutrient. Passes the Piedmontese in-laws pasta-snob test! I serve pasta every other week & save up to enjoy a monster 3.5 oz serving which satisfies until the next time. I also only pair it with an additional protein sauce or side so it is a very satisfying meal. Have…

For someone already at a healthy BMI I think yoga & walking are a nice maintenance combo. They are both also really great life-affirming & inward looking 'feel good' activities which mend the mind as well as the body. Downward dog on sweet pea! For body recomposition some heavy lifting will be your best friend.

I was completely active with my children but I did not make good use of solitude & adult time I really could have used... Also, I was much more fit with the first, less so as I juggled the second & began taxiing the older to play dates, lessons, sports etc. I also spent a large amount of time cleaning, organizing,…

Most people's metabolisms are just fine. Have you considered a Fitbit HR if you like to see a calorie burn number being earned all day? I love mine & it has been reliable! Otherwise, BMR & TDEE online calculators are pretty reliable. They are algorithms that calculate what you burn just to exist or what you burn adding in…

Love it! Only Clover's 4% organic...

Pass them on! I keep a small closer to begin with, but the LAST thing you need is a one-person emporium of every size you've ever been... Someone needs those clothes NOW, today, and you need clothes that fit properly NOW, today.
-
At the larger end it can! Since people fluctuate what you thought was your starting weight could have reflected sodium retention, etc too. If you feel fine, proceed as usual. If you suffered this past month you might want to set yourself to a smaller deficit. And make peace in advance that the speed weight will drop…

erra day baby, erra day...

@toe1226 here to oblige! ;)

Thanks for the height & wrist tips... I'm going to try that. Mine has seemed very accurate overall but maybe a little high on the burns...

I love my Aria, but don't buy it for the BF readings! In every other way, however, it is awesome.

@Mavrick_RN Good math there! But I'm greedy... I'm hoping for even more good days!

@_SKIM_ thanks!
