  • Deficit and burn, baby, deficit and burn. Your own sweet self decides which shelves of the pantry to raid first... Keep at it & eventually it will go.
  • The worst thing you can do is nothing... The second worst thing you can do is whatever you think you 'should' be doing but don't really want to do! I decided I was only going to do what I liked, no matter how long it took. I did not set weight or time goals or deadlines. Instead I set up 10-week sessions. I had been…
  • So protein protein protein. Only protein? That's just weird. You do realize that just because something's on YouTube you shouldn't necessarily believe it, right?
  • Yes, I started in August at about 200 lbs. Took about a week to realize all my clothes were just starting to fit how they were supposed to fit... LOL. Now I'm down about 23 lbs and halfway to goal. I just saw an old friend who hadn't seen me since early September & she was surprised. I don't see it when I look in the…
  • I got a Fitbit charge HR. I love it!! It keeps great track of my steps, and the calorie burns are more reliable. Love the workout mode. Love, love, love!! 1/1...26973/11.6 miles (took a hike)* 1/2... 7023/3.0 miles 1/3...11768/5.0 miles 1/4...11217/4.8 miles 1/5...7222/3.1 miles 1/6...14332/6.2 miles (hike!)*…
  • Would it make you feel better to know that easy 'weight' that drops in the first few days isn't really more than water? Stay the course. Commit to 8-10 weeks & do YOUR part; let your body do its part without nagging. If you can convince yourself to let your emotions not be part of the equation, weigh everyday & let a…
  • I do a lot of walking, pretty much every day. It is only partially for more calories; the other benefits are emotional & intellectual. I just think better when I walk. Hiking, Zumba, etc have to be spaced more than 24 hours apart or I start to feel injured.
  • Oh yeah I forgot olestra. Leaky *kitten* should be on everyone's 'no fly' food list! LOL
  • That pizza is mesmerizing... Transfats ARE bad. That shiz will mess you up! That's all I've got.
  • I'm 52 years old, 5'6"... I took a power walk today after my substitute job at school & I just hit 2757 calories burned at about 11:30 pm. I am incredibly grateful for my ability to burn calories!
  • @appelcline I stopped logging exercise on MFP & just let it all import from Fitbit. The MFP burns are so generic. For instance, I take a 90 minute yoga class at the Y on Sunday's. It is pretty chill. I like that deep stretch. MFP gave me 258 calories for that class but Fitbit said more like 116 based on my low heart rate…
  • Just got a charge HR on Saturday! I love it, but don't have anything to compare it to either. Love the workout function. I feel like it gives me calorie burns I can trust.
  • I like wraps. Today it was kind of just a big, messy fold over... Eggplant hummus from TJoes, avocado slices, tomato slices, slivered cucumber, power greens mix & micro greens. Sooooo delicious!
  • Ha! Menopause is just a different sort of carnival ride, hon... But yes, I don't sit up nights missing my period. All that money you think you're going to save not buying birth control, tampons and pads? It's all going to go toward fancy lubes. Word.
  • I agree with Robert, it could just be seasonal. I also don't see anything wrong with a maintenance break, provided it really is intentional & you stay mindful through the process. You made a BIG change! And you might consider a goal shift for a time... Plowing thru weight loss targets can get tedious. Maybe try training…
  • Yes in a very cold climate I would turn into the Venus of Willendorf!
  • I feel you. I'm pretty slow at losing... Just do your part: deficit! movement! and let your body do its part. You will get there. Your body really doesn't have a hidden agenda, and it's not your enemy. Even if it's not operating at 100% in some areas, remember it is doing a lot perfectly. xo
  • Again, you're talking about your body like its the wizard in the wizard of oz! No! You will only store fat if there is a surplus of calories. MFP has probably given you a calorie amount to lose weight based on your activity level, right? Start there. Move more & eat a little less. Eating a lot less will usually just end in…
  • Also, sorry about all those tough health challenges in a row. That's brutal! I wish you good health in the new year...
  • Also, try to stop thinking about your husband in this. He's going to do whatever it is he does. That's just a distraction for you. When you find yourself riffing on him gently remind yourself to return your focus to YOU. Couples get very entwined over time & you need space from him in this area...
  • I think you're making your body's basic digestive mechanisms too anthropomorphized and sentient here! Your body is like a very well run city. It has mechanisms for dealing with all sorts of conditions, good & not so good. It's not really invested in any set of circumstances beyond keeping you alive... (A feat we should…
  • That's because steak is work, with all the chewing. You have time for the satiety message to get through. You need to slow down the peanut butter that same way!
  • I keep it but I only eat it weighed & put on or with something... In other words, no eating off a spoon. That's one thing I noticed having other girls as roommates, ice cream & peanut butter are two foods people will mindlessly shovel in straight off a spoon and there's no keeping track that way. So maybe you need 'rules'…
  • Yesterday I was back down to my lowest weight before Christmas but today I spiked back up. Looks like my weekly average will be 4/10ths of a pound over my last weeks, which is exactly what happened at Thanksgiving. I'll take it! I'm eating well & logging some good workouts which will show up on the scale about 2 weeks out…
  • Oh dia I will pick your brain about go-lite gear! Sounds like you are doing some wonderful hiking. I hike a lot too & would like to get into simple overnights without the kids. Welcome newbies. Are you guys interested in moving to a new thread over in challenges where we can keep checking in on each other all through the…
  • Hahaha I was just going to jump in as an 'official old.' But @rabbitjb ran with the ball. You're in good hands! You can lose weight too, trust me. You can't order up the pace, but lose you will if you consistently eat at a deficit of what you expend.
  • You can do this! I was a tight 12 in August. Just started wearing comfy 8s with no muffin scraggle. Bam! (Still have a double chin though... it will take 20 more pounds for that... sighs...)
  • Yes, fiber. I can't imagine. I go at least once and sometimes twice a day. If I go 24 hours without one due to car travel or jet lag I'm miserable. If I went 48 hours I would turn myself into the nearest ER! lol
  • So not the end of the world... Look at your weekly numbers if dailies drive you crazy. They're more reliable.
